Jasmine Fae Chapter 1: My Own Battles

A/N: Just a warning, Jasmine doesn’t have much of a filter, and she has a pretty dirty mouth. If you have a problem with a lot of cussing, just let me know and I’ll start censoring it. Secondly, this chapter has a little violence in it. Not a lot, just a little. Thirdly, I’m going to be making Jazz’s chapters longer than River’s, because a lot has to happen in her Gen so the chapters will be longer. Thanks for reading 🙂

During school the following day, I was having a hard time concentrating. My date with Ash was only a few hours away and it was all I could think about. It didn’t help having him sitting at the table right behind me.

Screenshot-4389

Also, we just happened to be in science class, the only class in the whole school taught by a hot teacher. Mr. Retten was a new teacher this year, and all the girls had a crush on him. He was so cute it was hard to concentrate on anything he said.

Screenshot-4455

He was a good teacher nonetheless, but I just couldn’t focus on what he was saying today. So I just kinda tuned him out and got lost in my own thoughts.

I was still nervous for my date even after Venus gave me a pep-talk last night. she told me everything would go great, and that I had nothing to worry about. But right now not even her reassuring words could shake me of my nerves.

Screenshot-4387

I wish I could ask her what to do now, but unfortunately she was sitting across the room, next to the biggest bitch in the world. Cherry Samuels was the head cheerleader, and my sworn enemy. Her and her little crew were the people who gave me the most crap. She’s the one who came up with my nickname, Mutt. Honestly, before she started giving me shit, I didn’t have a lot of trouble in school. No one really bothered me or called me names. But when her parents decided to stop homeschooling her, she came along and screwed everything up.

I’ve literally never hated anyone as much as I hate Cherry.

Screenshot-4448

After this class was lunch, which I was half anticipating and half dreading. I wanted to hang out with my friends, but I knew that we wouldn’t be able to hang out in peace. Cherry always gave me some kind of crap every day.

Screenshot-4463

So when the bell rang I tried to leave as slowly as possible. I wanted her to get distracted with her boyfriend so maybe she would forget about me.

Screenshot-4465

I held my breath as I walked down the hall. Cherry was already all over Rye, her stupid little jock boyfriend, so I managed to pass by her without a problem.

Screenshot-4468

When I reached my group, Venus and Sage were kissing like they hadn’t seen each other in months. So that left just me and Ash.

“That was a pretty boring class today, wasn’t it?”

“Yea, I was tuned out practically the whole time.” I said, making him chuckle.

Screenshot-4477

“So which park did you wanna go to later?” He asked.

“Whichever one you want, though I’d like it if we didn’t go to Central Park, it’s too open and everyone goes there after school.”

“I figured you’d say that. We could go to the playground, there’s never anyone there on weekdays.” He suggested with a smile.

“Sure, that sounds awesome.”

“Guys, come sit.” Venus called us from her spot on the hallway floor. We spent our lunch breaks in the hallway, the cafeteria was filled with bitchy cheerleaders and dumbass jocks. Not exactly our scene. None of us ate lunch anyway, so hanging out in the hallway was the best option.

Screenshot-4407

Ash and I took a seat on either side of the happy couple.

“Ugh, why does Mr. Retten have to be so boring?” Venus whined. “He’s so cute, he should be a little interesting.”

“I know, how can someone be so cute, yet so monotonous?” I added.

“I have no idea.” Venus and I laughed.

“Hey, you guys know I hate it when you get all girly.” Sage pouted. Venus nudged him with her elbow.

“Don’t be a baby.”

Screenshot-4408

“So V, you’re coming over to my place after school, right?” Sage whispered, just barely audible to me over the lingering chatter in the halls.

“Of course, I always do.” She said, giving him a small peck on the lips.

“You guys are nauseating.” Ash fake gagged.

“Oh come on, if you had a girlfriend you’d be doing the same thing.” Sage teased.

“Actually, I’ve got a date after school. But still, you guys do over-do the PDA.”

“What? You’ve got a date?”

Screenshot-4412

“Yea I do, surprisingly.” Ash said, pretending to be hurt.

“I didn’t mean it like that, Bro. I just had no idea, why didn’t you tell me?”

“I was going to tell you, after the fact. I didn’t want you to make things weird.” Ash laughed.

“Well who is she?”

“Jazz.” Ash said, a huge smile spread across his face as he glanced over at me.

“Really?” Sage looked over at me, and I nodded. “Damn, V did you know about this?”

“Yea, of course.” She smirked.

Screenshot-4430

“Aw, someone actually wants to go on a date with the little Mutt?” Cherry Samuels and her bitchy little sidekick Pepper interrupted our conversation. Ash started to pull himself off the floor, but I stopped him. I could fight my own battles.

“What do you want, Cherry?” I sighed as I stood up. I really didn’t want to deal with her shit today.

“Oh, so you’re gonna give me attitude again today, Mutt?”

Screenshot-4436

“Yea, I am. I’m fucking tired of you being a bitch to me for no reason. What have I ever done to you?”

“You exist, and that bothers me. Mutt’s like you aren’t physically possible. Your parent’s should’ve disposed of you when you were born, it would’ve made our school a lot nicer.”

“Actually this school was a lot nicer until you came along. Your parents should’ve kept on homeschooling you.”

Screenshot-4434

“Shut up you stupid Mutt! This school couldn’t survive without me. I run this place.”

Shut up you stupid Mutt.” I mocked. “Honestly, I’m getting tired of that one. Don’t you have any other things you could say? Or is that all your tiny little brain could come up with?”

Screenshot-4432

“At least I’m not a loser.” She said, making the ‘L’ sign with her fingers to her forehead.

“Oh wow, what a great one. Where’d you get that, first grade?”

“You’re just jealous, you wish you could have pure blood like me. My parents are vampires, my grandparents are vampires, my entire bloodline is all vampires. And what about you? Your bloodline is so inter-species I wouldn’t be surprised if you had some human blood flowing through those pathetic little veins of yours.”

“Do you really think I give a shit about bloodlines? Why don’t you get off your high-horse, because this isn’t the 1800s anymore. No one gives a crap about bloodlines in this era. And besides, aren’t you dating a fairy? Isn’t that out of your bloodline?”

Screenshot-4438

“You leave Rye out of this.”

“Yea, well if you marry him, and have kids, there’s a chance you could have a Mutt. Can you imagine? Little Mutts that look just like you and that idiot! It would be so cute.”

Screenshot-4440

I didn’t have any time to react, she slapped me immediately after the last word left my mouth.

“I TOLD YOU TO LEAVE HIM OUT OF THIS.” She screamed at me. I stared at her, wide-eyed. I was in total shock. I knew she was a bitch, but I never thought she would hit me. “Don’t ever mention him to me again, you stupid little Mutt.” She muttered threateningly. I wanted to punch her so bad, but Mom was the principal and I really didn’t want to get told off by her in front of Cherry.

I clenched my fists. I took a deep breath and tried to swallow my anger. Punching her wasn’t an option.

“See? You shouldn’t say shit like that if you can’t defend yourself.” She and Pepper snickered.

I was about to say something, but then she straight up spit in my face.

Screenshot-4429

I was humiliated. She always did this to me, making me feel like complete shit. That crap I could handle. But her physically attacking me, that wasn’t something I was prepared for. There was nothing I could do about it either. I didn’t want to go crawling to my mom. I had to handle it on my own.

And by handling it, I mean running away from it. Having someone else spit on you in front of your friends and the guy you like is pretty mortifying. I couldn’t stay there for another second. Luckily the bathroom wasn’t far away.

———-

Screenshot-4484

After washing the spit off my face, I curled up in a ball on the floor. I felt like such an idiot. Running away was the worst possible thing I could’ve done. Running was cowardly. It made me look like a fool, and it showed her that her torment did affect me. I knew it was only going to get worse after this.

I heard the door behind me creak open. “Go away.” I muttered into my knee. I didn’t want anyone to see me like this.

“It’s me, Jazz.” Venus’s voice sounded from behind me.

“Oh. Hey.”

“You okay?”

“Would you be okay?”

“No, probably not. She’s a bitch, even though we know her words aren’t true, they still sting.”

“Oh shut up,” I laughed. “This is no time for mushy crap.” I held out my hand to her, and she pulled me off the floor.

Screenshot-4488

“There’s no one around, we can be as mushy as we want.”

“Yea, no thanks.” I said. She stuck her tongue out at me.

“But still, you didn’t deserve that. It’s not like you chose to be mixed”

“I know.” I smiled at her and pulled her into a hug.

“Aren’t I the best cousin?” She laughed into my shoulder.

I shoved her off me lightly. “Yea, whatever helps you sleep at night.”

Screenshot-4490

Venus pulled away from my hug and walked over to the bathroom mirrors. I followed suit, I had to fix my makeup. After all, I still had a date to go on.

“You excited?” Venus asked, as if she knew exactly what I was thinking about.

“More nervous actually. I don’t wanna screw things up.”

“Oh shut it, you’re already friends, there’s not much you can screw up.”

“Let’s hope so.”

Screenshot-4500

School let out fourty-five minutes ago. I was getting tired of waiting. It was obvious Ash had already left school, he might’ve left early or even gone out the back.

Venus and Sage walked by holding hands. She glanced back at me with a confused look on her face. I shrugged and waved her off. I didn’t want to ruin her day because I got stood up.

I sat there and watched my cousin and her boyfriend walk away. She was so lucky, she had a cute boyfriend, she was confident, she always knew exactly what to say, and most importantly, she wasn’t mixed like I was. Maybe that’s why Ash stood me up, maybe he didn’t want to be the guy dating that freaky Mutt girl. I don’t blame him, I wouldn’t want him to deal with the shit I go through every day.

Screenshot-4502

“Jazz?” Ash’s voice broke me away from my thoughts. I immediately felt my face heat up. I felt so silly for assuming the worst.

“Hey Ash.”

“I didn’t think you’d still be here. My last period teacher gave me a detention, I haven’t been going to class enough apparently.” He said with a laugh. “Sorry I kept you waiting.”

“No worries.”

“Alright, to the park then?”

“That was the plan, wasn’t it?” I teased, before jumping off the bench and walking off in the direction of the playground.

——–

Screenshot-4507

When we got to the park, is was completely empty. I was glad, I wanted us to be alone.

“Race you to the swings?” Ash gave me a sly smile, as if he already knew he would win.

“Sure.”

Screenshot-4510

It was a tie, Ash and I got to the swings at the exact same time, so unfortunately neither of us got bragging rights.

“So, now what?” I asked. I’ve never been on a date before and I wasn’t really sure how to act on one.

“Well, you could start by telling me a bit about yourself.”

“Not much to tell.”

“Jazz, you’re the only mixed occult in the world, and your father is the current heir to the Fae thrown. You’re pretty much royalty. There has to be a lot to tell.” He laughed.

“Not really.”

“Well what do you want to do when you grow up?”

“I’d like to be a scientist. I’d like to find out why and how I exist.”

Screenshot-4513

“Interesting.”

“Yea I guess. How about you?”

“I wanna be a teacher. It might sound cheesey, but I just wanna spread knowledge, y’know?”

“Yea, I get you.” It was nice getting to know him, he was a lot sweeter than I thought.

Screenshot-4517

He didn’t say anything for a while. We just kinda sat there, taking in the silence.

“What’re you doing?” I asked, he randomly got off his swing and started walking around to mine.

Screenshot-4518

He still didn’t say anything. Instead, he grabbed the seat of my swing and pulled it back.

“What are you doing?” I asked again.

“Pushing you on the swings, of course.” He chuckled, before letting the seat go.

Screenshot-4521

“You are such a dork.” I giggled embarrassingly as I swung through the air.

“Yea, I know.”

Screenshot-4524

He kept pushing me for a while, the two of us just chatting idly about ourselves. It was really nice, actually. I never thought I’d have a good time just by talking to someone on a swing set.

I was also really grateful he didn’t mention the incident at lunch today. It wasn’t something I wanted to talk about with him.

Eventually my swinging slowed to a stop. I was getting a little motion sick, and the last thing I wanted to do was puke on my date.

Screenshot-4526

“So now what?” I climbed off the swing and turned around to face him.

“How about this?” He swung around and headed straight for the little plastic tower.

Screenshot-4528

I couldn’t help but laugh at his childish-ness. I was glad he was coming out of his shell to me. I was glad that it was me that he was opening up to.

“C’mon Jazz.” He called.

Screenshot-4529

“Huh, not as awesome as I remember.” Ash said once the two of us were sitting in the playhouse.

“They never are.”

“Wanna do something else?” He asked, and I nodded.

“Why don’t we go hang out in the sand, and see who can get the most sand in their shoes without taking them off?” I challenged him. I always loved a good competition.

“You’re so on.”

Screenshot-4534

I slid down the pole first, hoping to get a head start on our silly competition. But before I could run off to the sand, Ash was already sliding in next to me.

“Wait, Jazz hold up.”

“What? Don’t want me to get a head start?” I teased.

Screenshot-4535

“Yea, I thought I could distract you with this.” He smiled at me before pulling me into a kiss.

This was a pretty awesome first date.

  1. Ughh, I want moreee! Cherry is disgusting. She might have “mutt” children, so why bother bullying? Lol. Them arguing while Ash and Venus being lovey-dovey in the background… They make a really good couple. Please no backstabbing relationships between them in this chapter!

    • Cherry’s behavior will be explained in later chapters. I love Venus and her boyfriend, they’re such a fun couple to play 🙂 We’ll have to see how things play out 😉 Thanks for reading!

  2. Cherry!!!! >.< If she really wants to be all "pureblood" & crap, then she shouldn't be dating a fairy. Jazz just is here, for some unknown reasons, and if Cherry really wants to bully her, Cherry needs a good excuse to do so.
