Jasmine Fae Chapter 22: Finale

Screenshot-5902

My last month was up and it was time for me to turn myself in. Dimitri and I had been paying attention to the news, it was obvious that everyone was counting on me to set them free. Part of me was angry that they placed this burden onto my shoulders. It didn’t seem fair, my children were still young and they needed their mother. But another part of me was glad. Given what they were asking of me, if it were anyone else I doubt they’d turn themselves in. Years of torture and testing wasn’t something people were lining up for.

Screenshot-5900

I stood in front of my family for the last time in my life. Skye was still too young to understand what was happening, and I wasn’t entirely convinced Lake did either. Stone obviously understood, but true to his name he was being the rock for the rest of the family. My dear husband looked like he would break down any second.

My heart couldn’t take it anymore. I had to get started on my goodbyes.

Screenshot-5903

“Hey baby.” I cooed softly as I lifted Lake into my arms.

“Don’t go Mama.” He whispered, visibly upset. Unfortunately he did understand the situation.

“I’m sorry baby, but I have too.” I quietly explained. He sighed and placed his tiny hands on my cheeks.

“I love you Mama.” His small voice made me start to tear up. I didn’t want to start crying already, I wanted to wait until I was on my boat, so my children wouldn’t have to see me cry.

“I love you too, be good for Daddy okay?”

“I will Mama.” He smiled. I gave him a big kiss before setting him down on the ground.

Screenshot-5904

“Mama!” Skye giggled innocently. As  I suspected, my one year old daughter had no idea what was going on.

“Hi sweetheart.” I smiled softly at my little baby. I cuddled her close to me and took in her scent. It hurt, knowing that I’d never be able to watch my children grow up. Especially Skye, she probably won’t remember me. I’ll just be a picture in the living room.

Even though I knew he never would, I wished Dimitri would re-marry. Or, marry, since we weren’t legally wed. I wanted my children to have a mother, even if it wasn’t me.

“You’ll be good for the boys, right?”

“Yeah Mama!” She squirmed excitedly in my arms. I couldn’t help but chuckle at my daughter’s energy. I set her down on the ground for the last time.

Next up was Stone. He’d known about my leaving for a few weeks now, and he’d been pretty moody about it.

Screenshot-5906

But when it came time to say goodbye, all of his anger vanished. My little boy ran up to me and threw himself in my arms. I was able to catch him and keep the stumbling to a minimum.

“I’m sorry, Mom.” He frowned as I adjusted him on my waist.

“It’s okay sweetie, I understand.”

“I’m gonna miss you. I promise I won’t forget you, and I promise I’ll tell Lake and Skye all about what a great mommy you are.” His words caused a small sob to escape my lips.

“Thank you, Baby.” I squeezed him tight, not wanting to put my little boy down. I wanted to stay, at least for another few months. But part of me knew that if I didn’t leave now, I’d never be able to. It had to be now.

“I love you.” Stone smiled sadly and kissed me on the cheek.

“I love you, too.” I choked out as I tried to keep myself from crying.

But that was all in vain. As soon as I set my oldest down, it was time to say goodbye to Dimitri.

Screenshot-5907

I threw myself into Dimitri so hard he almost toppled over. We squeezed each other as hard as we could, each one trying to melt into the other.

“I love you.” I managed to whisper between sobs.

“I love you too.”

“Promise me you’ll take them somewhere safe?” I whispered quietly into his ear, specifically trying to keep the kids from hearing.

“I will.”

“Please, don’t be miserable for too long. They need you.” I warned. Part of me feared he’d curl up in bed for weeks at a time.

“I’ll try, there’s no telling until I actually lose you.” He nuzzled his face into the base of my neck. “But I promise you I can try.”

Screenshot-5909

Finally, it was time to kiss him goodbye. It was a weird feeling, knowing you’re doing something for the last time. It was the last time kissing my husband. The last time holding my children. Hell, it was the last time I’d be seeing my children.

With all these lasts, I couldn’t help but think about all my firsts. My first kiss with Ash at the playground. The first time I used my powers, which ended up killing a girl. The first and only mission I took for F.R.O. My first time meeting Dimitri. My first time riding in an elevator and being in a building taller than three stories. My first time dancing in a strip club. My first time being pregnant. The first time I held Stone. The first time I kissed Dimitri.

All these moments flashed through my mind as I kissed him. For the first time since the message aired, I felt content. My life wasn’t perfect by any means. But it was mine, and now that it was almost over I could appreciate the beauty of it. I’d lived a good life, sure it had it’s bad moments, but the good definitely outweighed the bad.

Eventually the two of us had to come up for air. I stared into Dimitri’s eyes for a few seconds before blinking away my tears and turning away.

“You guys be good.” I warned my children once more. The three of them were sat quietly on the stairs. They all nodded, earning a smile from me.

“Bye Mommy.” Stone waved sadly. I gave him a small wave before opening the front door.

“I love you guys, never forget that.” They all smiled weakly at me and nodded.

Screenshot-5913

Before I could stop myself, I stepped outside and shut the door behind me. Dimitri had already pulled the boat into the water and programmed Bridgeport into the GPS for me.

Screenshot-5914

The four of them came out onto the deck as I climbed into the boat. I could hear Lake wailing despite the crashing of the waves around me. He was screaming for me, he wanted me to come back. Dimitri’s attempts to sooth him were in vain, the toddler would not stop screaming.

Screenshot-5917

As I started up the boat, I couldn’t help but glance back at my family one last time. They were my everything, I hated to leave them like this. But I didn’t have a choice. This was bigger than me, bigger than my children. I couldn’t put my wants in front of an entire world’s worth of supernatural beings.

It broke my heart as I once again sped away from a place I used to call home in my boat. But this time was different. This time, I knew for certain that I was speeding off to my death.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 21: With a Price

A/N Next chapter is Jasmine’s finale, and I will be posting the heir vote shortly after this chapter. Also, sorry about the grass’s color change in the last scene. My game was giving me a lot of trouble, otherwise I would’ve fixed it. Thanks for all the reads guys, it means a lot 🙂

Screenshot-5791

“Lake, put your sister down right now.” I scolded my son, who held his younger sister in his arms as he flew around the deck. I didn’t mind them flying in the house as much as I did them flying outside. My biggest fear was Lake dropping her off the deck and into the water.

“Don’t worry Mama, she’s safe.” Lake assured me with a cute smile. I crossed my arms and glared at him.

“Put her down.” I demanded, and he set her down safely onto the deck.

Screenshot-5792

“Dimitri, weren’t you supposed to be watching them?” I turned to my husband who sat quietly on the bench.

“I’m right here, Love. I won’t let anything happen to them.” He smiled at me. “Sit.”

I sighed, I was slightly angry at him for letting the kids be reckless, but I couldn’t resist cuddling with him.

Screenshot-5796

As soon as I sat down on the bench he wrapped his arm around me.

“You gotta stop worrying, Jazz. They’re kids, they should be able to have a little fun.” Dimitri chuckled in my ear.

“I just don’t want any of them to get hurt.”

Screenshot-5799

“Kids get hurt, that happens to everyone.”

“But if they get seriously injured, we can’t just take them to a hospital and expose them like that.”

“I can take them, I’m dead, remember? And they have no idea what the kids look like, so as long as I wear a hat or something no one will know. Besides, this entire town is on our side.”

“I’m a mother, I’ll still worry no matter what you say.” I stated, making him chuckle.

“Yea, but the kids can’t get too hurt from flying around. Hell, Lake can’t even lift Skye higher than the railing, there’s no way they could fall off.” He assured me, knowing my concerns before I even voiced them.

Screenshot-5802

“One day he’ll be strong enough.” I countered him.

“Yea, and by then we’ll have taught him not to fly beyond the deck. Don’t worry so much, we have smart kids.” He chuckled again.

“Why do you always have to win these?” I faked being upset, making him laugh.

“Someone has to keep you grounded.”

“I’m glad it’s you, then.” We smiled at each other before closing the gap between our lips.

Screenshot-5804

“Ew gwoss!” Skye and Lake giggled from the block table. I stuck my tongue out at the two of them, making them both break out into a fit of giggles.

“I’m gonna get you!” Dimitri wiggled his fingers at them and growled. They both shrieked and ran away as he chased them.

“They’re all insane.” Stone mumbled from the chess table. He was becoming a very smart young man, he was always doing something to improve his intelligence.

“Tell me about it.” I leaned back against the old bench with a smile.

I’d never been happier in my life.

Screenshot-5824

“Listen Todds, it’s been too long. We need to take drastic measures here. This thing could be planning an attack, we can’t risk the lives of so many people.” The human’s president sat across from me in the small conference room.

“I just don’t know if this is necessary, Sir.” I tried to convince him that his plan was crazy.

“Listen, we can’t wait for it to strike first, we need to find it before then. It’s obviously protected by heavy magic, so if we can’t go to it then we need to lure it to us.”

Screenshot-5822

“But we don’t have to go through with it, once we have the mutant we can retract on our initial claim.”

“Todds, I may be a politician but I am an honest man. If I promise these beings their freedom, I will not back out.” He glared at me. His plan was to air an announcement, telling everyone that if the mutt turned herself in, then he would grant every supernatural being in an experiment town their freedom.

If he did this, I would lose all my power. I ran this town, and if everyone was free to come and go as they please, I wouldn’t have any control. So I was fighting it, I wanted the mutt in custody but I was not willing to give up my power.

Screenshot-5827

“Y’know,” Carson chimed in for the first time this meeting. “It might not be that terrible of an idea. If Vampires and Fae aren’t confined to the same place, then maybe they’ll stop mating and there will be a less of a chance of more mutts.”

“Exactly. It’s a win-win here, Todds. We get the mutt, and there won’t be any more.” They had a point, but I was still hesitant.

“Will I still be in power? How can I control a city if people are coming and going whenever they want?”

“That’s what you’re worried about?” The president sounded appalled. “Of course you’ll still be in charge, you just won’t be able to have complete control.” He explained. I was a little relieved, I’d still be in charge, just less in charge. I guess it was a sacrifice I was willing to make.

Screenshot-5826

“But wait, if people can leave, where will they go? Human towns?” My son, Christian spoke up. I could tell he was against this as well.

“I guess, that’s not really my problem.” The president chuckled slightly. “They’ll have to figure that out for themselves.”

“Would humans be able to come to our towns?” Christian asked.

“Yes, I don’t see why they would want to, though.”

“They could come to kill us, they’re scared of us!” He started to panic. I laid a hand on his shoulder to calm him.

“I doubt they’d want to risk they’re lives for that, son. We’ll be fine.” I comforted him even though I had the same concerns.

Screenshot-5830

“So it’s settled then, the mutt for their freedom. I doubt it’ll be able to pass this up.” The president grinned at his secretary who’d been scribbling notes throughout the entire meeting.

“How long of a time frame do we give it, Sir?” Carson questioned.

“A year, we don’t know how far it is and how long it’ll have to travel. We’ll give it a year.”

Screenshot-5833

“Stone, be careful!” I yelled out to my oldest as we ran outside for the beach.

“Yea, okay Mom.” He called out as he ran into the waves.

“Down Dada!” Skye struggled against Dimitri to be put on the ground.

“Alright, alright.” He laughed while putting the squirming toddler onto the ground. Lake pulled his hands out from ours and ran down the beach, Skye quickly following behind.

The kids didn’t notice the tension between Dimitri and I, and I was grateful. The human president had aired a message for me, saying that if I turned myself in he’d shut down all the experiments and set everyone free. Obviously I wanted to take the offer, but Dimitri was hesitant.

Screenshot-5840

As soon as the kids were out of earshot, I turned to Dimitri. “Babe, you gotta let me do this. This isn’t just about our family.”

“Jazz, you can’t, this shouldn’t be on your shoulders.” His voice was strained, I realized he was trying to keep himself from crying.

Screenshot-5855

“It shouldn’t, but it is. I have to turn myself in, I can’t just ignore this and let those people stay in their experiment towns. I have the chance to change things, I’m not gonna pass that up.”

“But what about us, Jazz? What’re we going to do without you?” He whispered.

“Leave, go find a house somewhere. Find a good school for them, and let them have the childhood they deserve.”

“No. No, I’m not leaving. Especially not without you.”

“Please, Dimitri, don’t fight this. We both know I have to do this.” I tried to grab his hand but he pulled away.

Screenshot-5859

“You can’t do this, what will I tell the kids? How will I explain this to Stone?”

“I don’t know, but we’ll figure something out. I won’t leave for at least another month.”

“What?” He asked loudly, almost grabbing the attention of our younger kids. “A month? They gave you a year!” He was becoming visibly upset.

“The sooner I leave, the sooner everyone gets their freedom. The sooner my family can come out of hiding, and the sooner you guys can start a new life.” I tried to be reassuring.

“Jazz, you can’t leave. I won’t let you.”

Screenshot-5860

“Please, Dimitri. You have to let me go. Don’t you want our kids to live a normal life, and for both sides of our family to be free?”

“I do, but I wish it didn’t come with such a price.” He sighed.

“I’m sorry. I wish I didn’t have to do this to you.” I smiled sadly at him. We both knew that if I turned myself in, I’d never see him again. I’d never see my kids again, or my family. It hurt, but this wasn’t about me anymore.

Screenshot-5862

“I wish you didn’t either.” Dimitri looked as if he were about to cry. “But, I’m gonna let you do it anyway. This sucks, and I really don’t wanna lose you, but if you really want to give yourself up I can’t stop you.”

“Really?”

“Yea, it’s gonna be hard, but if you need to do this I’m on board.”

Screenshot-5864

“Thank you.” I smiled sadly at him and pulled him into a kiss.

Part of me wanted to just ignore the message and continue living on the island with my family. But that was selfish. I couldn’t put my personal happiness above thousand’s of supernatural beings’ freedom.

Leaving them was my best option, even though it would rip my heart out.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 20: Stress and Love

Screenshot-5693

“Dimitri, this is bad. We can’t put another child through this.” I cried hysterically to Dimitri the next day. He was ecstatic about the new baby, and I was completely devastated. Stone was going to have a hard life here, no friends, no extended family and online school. It wasn’t ideal, and it wasn’t something I wanted to put another innocent person through. I bit my lip as I started to cry.

Screenshot-5695

“Hey, hey Jazz don’t cry.” Dimitri laid his hand on my arm reassuringly. “This is a good thing. Now Stone’ll have someone close to his own age. He’ll have someone to play with.”

“I-I guess that’s good. But what if they don’t get along? My sisters and I weren’t very close.”

“Don’t worry about that right now, alright? Let’s just get through the pregnancy before worrying about the baby’s relationship with Stone.” He said with a small chuckle.

Screenshot-5697

“I love you, you know that? You always know just what to say.” Dimitri placed his hands on my waist and gently pulled me close.

“Yea, I got to. You worry so much someone’s gotta keep you grounded.” He gave me a lopsided smirk and I jokingly smacked his shoulder.

“You are such a jerk.”

Screenshot-5703

“Yea, but for some reason you love me anyways.”

“Oh, you got me there.”

———

Screenshot-5710

A few months into my pregnancy, Stone was starting to notice that I was getting larger. He’d been asking questions for a while, so Dimitri and I decided it was time to sit him down and explain.

“So, Bud, soon Mommy and Daddy are going to be having another baby.”

“Wut does dat mean?” Stone’s cute little voice asked.

“It means that you’re going to be having a new baby brother or sister.” I exclaimed.

Screenshot-5714

“Really?” He asked excitedly. He’d been watching a lot of television with families lately, I figured that’s where he learned what that word meant.

“Yea, isn’t that exciting?” Dimitri clapped his hands. Stone copied, he was going through one of those copying phases.

“Yea!” I smiled at Dimitri. Maybe this wasn’t too bad after all.

———

Screenshot-5717

“This is bad.” I screamed as I sat on the extra bed, about to give birth to my second child.

“Shh, it’s alright baby. It’s alright.”

“I want to be in a hospital.” I groaned after another push.

Screenshot-5718

“Momma?” Stone slowly opened the door and stepped in. “Are you otay?”

“I’m fine baby.” I managed to choke out.

“You can go play, Stone.” Dimitri said sternly. Stone nodded and rushed out of the room.

“Alright, this baby’s coming, now. Push as hard as you can.” He coached. I followed instructions, even though I felt like I was about to pass out.

———

Screenshot-5720

“He’s so perfect, isn’t he Dimi?” I stared in awe at the little boy in my arms. Lake Fae was born a fairy, he had Dimitri’s skin-tone, his father’s hair, and a wing color I wasn’t sure where it came from.

“He is.” Dimitri smiled softly.

Screenshot-5721

“Can I play wit him Momma?” Stone asked innocently from the floor.

“Not yet, Baby. Not for a while.”

“Aw man.”

“He’ll be big enough soon, I promise.” Dimitri said with a laugh. It was true, they grew like weeds.

Screenshot-5723

“Y’know Jazz, is it just me or do you feel like our family needs one more?” He gave me a sly smile.

“Yea, how about you give birth this time.” I sneered at him. I was not ready for another baby, I don’t think I’ll ever be. Two was enough, and I really didn’t want to give birth like that ever again.

Screenshot-5749

It’s been a long time since my brother left. My other brother, Christian, had given up hope on finding him alive. The rest of us didn’t want to think like that, we liked to believe Dimitri was alive and well, despite the ‘crime’ he committed. Personally, I think what my brother did was brave. Mia and Sydney agreed, but we could never say that to the rest of the family. They wanted to find our brother so they could punish him for his crimes.

We often spent evenings just watching the news, hoping to hear anything that would give us a lead on Dimi. We usually got nothing, just stories about the riots starting in other experiment towns. Lots of people were getting angry, they wanted to leave their towns and go elsewhere. The scientists refused, so people were furious.

Screenshot-5740

It was pretty boring most of the time. They didn’t put a lot of the ugly stuff in the news. Especially when it made the humans look bad. They usually did stories on how the humans are trying to improve life for us. It was complete bullshit.

Screenshot-5744

It was obvious my siblings were getting bored. We hadn’t heard anything in years. Yes, we loved him, but wasting all this time on bullshit news stories wasn’t worth it. We shouldn’t be wasting our lives on something that might give us a lead.

Screenshot-5738

That night was going to be my last of watching the news constantly. I was going to tell my parents that I was almost a teenager now, and that I needed to go out with my friends.

But just as the news was about to switch to a crappy drama show, the words ‘Breaking News” flashed across the screen. I could feel the tension in the air rise as we all sat up straighter and waited for the men on the screen to give the news.

Screenshot-5735

“The body of a young man has been found washed up on the beach of Sunset Valley. Our sources say the man accurately fits the description of the missing vampire fugitive, Dimitri Todds. It has not been confirmed, they will be needing a family member to identify the body.”

Screenshot-5745

My father quickly grabbed the remote and shut the TV off before we could hear anything else. The room was dead silent, even Cheryl had stopped playing with her teddy bear.

“Oh my god.” My sister, Mia whispered. She and Dimitri were extremely close, despite their age difference. Dimitri was a teenager when Mia was born, he practically taught her how to walk.

Screenshot-5750

The next person to make any noise was my mother. A small, horrified choke escaped her lips. I knew it was only seconds before she started bawling.

I couldn’t believe my older brother was dead.

*Jasmine*

*One year later*

Screenshot-5754

“Hey boys, what’re you doing?” I strolled into the living room after waking up from my nap. It’s been a year since the witch faked Dimitri’s death. We weren’t sure what would happen after that, Dimitri was afraid they’d try even harder to find me.

And unfortunately, he was right. His father organized troops from all of the experiment towns to try and find me. They’d even got a few witches on their side. It was terrifying, they could come for us any time now.

That didn’t mean we stopped living our lives though. Dimitri had started bar-tending at a bar on the mainland, and I was still writing and raising our two sons.

Screenshot-5755

“Shh, mommy they’re sleeping.” Stone whispered from the floor. My baby was almost old enough to start school. Dimitri and I considered letting him go to a regular school on the mainland, but we ultimately decided it would be too dangerous. Homeschooling was our best option.

“Oh, sorry.” I whispered back with a wink. “Hey boys, wakey wakey!” I clapped my hands loudly, startling both Dimitri and Lake.

Screenshot-5760

Lake flew off his father’s lap with a laugh. Stone stuck his arms in the air and Lake grabbed them, trying to fly off with his brother.

He’d been doing that often, Lake used his wings a lot more than his legs. We weren’t really sure why, I only ever flew in emergencies so he obviously didn’t learn it from me. Lake had also been carrying his brother off, it was fun for a few minutes until he got tired and dropped him, causing lots of crying.

Screenshot-5761

Dimitri and I intervened, I took Lake and he took Stone.

“Momma!” Lake screamed, trying to sound upset but my tickling made him giggle.

“Sorry, Baby. But we don’t want Stone to get hurt, right?” I asked, and he nodded.

Screenshot-5764

“It’s okay Mommy, I’m strong!” Stone flexed his muscles, then looked at Dimitri who did the same.

“Yea, Mommy, we’re strong!” Dimitri chuckled

“I know you are, Bud. But I don’t want you to get hurt.” I smiled softly and he pouted. Dimitri laughed again and set Stone down on the floor to go play. I did the same with my toddler before approaching my husband.

Screenshot-5769

He grabbed my hands and pulled me close. My swollen belly just barely pressed against his torso.

“I guess we had nothing to worry about, they get along too well.” I laughed, remembering my worries before Lake was born.

“Yea, I feel like they’re gonna start ganging up on us.” Dimitri grinned nervously.

“Can you imagine them as teenagers? We’re gonna be so screwed.”

“Especially if this one takes their side, then we’ll be outnumbered.” He laid his hand on the side of my stomach.

“You were the one who convinced me to have one more.” I teased.

“True, but I promise this will be the last one.” He closed the gap between our lips.

Screenshot-5767

“Ew, cooties!” Stone screamed and Lake giggled. I couldn’t help but giggle too. Even though they were little terrors, I loved my family more than anything in the world.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 19: Life and Death

Screenshot-5637

“Be careful, Bud. Don’t go too far out.” Dimitri called out to Stone, who was playing in the water. I was a little nervous about letting him play in the waves, but Dimitri promised me that nothing would happen to him, since the both of us were only feet away. He was right obviously, but I couldn’t help but worry about my little boy.

Things were a little tense around here after the message from Dimitri’s father. His threats terrified me. The thought of everyone I loved being killed was haunted me. Even though Dimitri was positive his threats were empty, I wasn’t so convinced. There was no way for us to know for sure, but there was one way to prevent anything bad from happening. Dimitri wouldn’t tell me exactly what it was, all he told me was that a witch friend would be coming to visit us soon.

Screenshot-5639

To distract ourselves, we tried to spend every second with Stone, or with each other. So far it was working.

Dimitri and I watched as the hyper little boy kicked and splashed around in the water. He’d been running around all day, making Dimi and I chase him. I was exhausted, I was amazed at how much energy my son seemed to have.

“I love you, Jazz.” Dimitri whispered in my ear without warning.

“I love you too, Dimi.” I gave him a confused smile. His proclamation came out of nowhere. He had a huge smile on his face, confusing me further. “What?”

“You just look so gorgeous in this lighting.”

“Thanks, you don’t look to bad yourself.” I joked, earning myself a small laugh.

“Marry me.” He whispered, I spun around to face him, unsure if I heard him right.

“What?”

“Marry me, Jasmine Tulip Fae.”

“We can’t get married, we can’t exactly sign any legal documents.” I chuckled. He was sounding completely insane right now.

“Doesn’t matter, we can have our own little ceremony, and call each other husband and wife. We don’t need a legal document for this.” He explained with a soft smile. But even if it wasn’t a real wedding, I still felt a bit uneasy. I never thought of myself as the marrying type, I guess I never thought I could commit to something like that. But this was Dimitri, the man I loved and the man I knew I wanted to spend my life with. So why did I feel so apprehensive about this?

“I-I don’t know Dimi.”

“What?”

“I don’t know, weddings make me nervous.” I admitted with a small, nervous laugh.

Screenshot-5642

“Then it won’t be a wedding, it’ll just be an exchanging of vows.”

“Now that is a lot less scary.” I smiled, as I extended my neck to kiss him. His lips curled into a smile as I did, and I couldn’t help but smile too.

———

Screenshot-5647

“He’s so peaceful when he’s sleeping. It’s hard to believe he’s such a little terror.” I joked after Dimitri and I put Stone down for the night.

“Oh he’s not that bad. He’s just going through a phase.” He chuckled and pressed himself tightly against my back.

“Let’s hope so.”

Screenshot-5650

I could tell he rolled his eyes by the way his jaw clenched.

“Hey, don’t roll your eyes at me.” I scolded quietly.

“How the hell did you know that?” He asked, bewildered. This time it was my turn to roll my eyes.

“Doesn’t matter. Shouldn’t we get started on this ‘vow exchange’? It’s getting late, and I’m exhausted.”

“Yea, sure.”

Screenshot-5651

Dimitri took me out onto the deck. I shivered as we walked outside. Whether it was from the cold or from my nerves, I couldn’t tell. Either way I wanted to get this over with.

“You’re tense.” Dimitri pulled me close and pulled my chin close to his. “It’s alright, we don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.”

“No, it’s important to you. Therefore it’s important to me.” I squeezed his hand to assure him that this was something that I wanted too.

“Alright, I’ll go first then.”

“No, I wanna go first.”

“You sure?”

“Yea.”

Screenshot-5659

“If it weren’t for you, I’d have died many years ago. You’ve risked your life for me on more than one occasion, even though I never asked you too. You’ve always put me first, even if it meant losing everything and everyone you’ve ever loved. I have no idea how to repay you, I don’t think I’ll ever pay off that debt. But I want to try and make you the happiest man on earth, so tonight I’m going to do something I vowed I’d never do. I’m going to give you my hand in marriage.” I wiped a stray tear from my eye. Then, I realized I didn’t have a ring to give him. So I pretended to hold one up and slid the invisible band onto his finger. The two of us couldn’t help but giggle, even though we were both about to cry.

Screenshot-5663

“Jasmine, you mean the world to me. You’ve been my entire world for longer than you’ve even known. I’d do anything to keep you safe. I’d risk my life a billion times if it meant you could live another day. You, and Stone, mean everything to me. If I lost either of you, I don’t think I’d be able to survive. I love you Jasmine. You don’t have to try and make me the happiest man on earth, because just waking up next to you every single day already does.” He smiled at me, and slid a beautiful diamond ring onto my finger.

“Where did you get this?” I asked curiously.

“It was my grandmothers. I brought it with me when we left.”

“So you’ve been planning this since before we even got together?”

“Yea, pretty much.” He chuckled sheepishly.

Screenshot-5664

“You are such a dork.”

“Yea, but I’m your dork now.” We laughed. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close to me.

“I love you, Dimitri.”

“I love you too.” He smiled just before he kissed me.

Screenshot-5666

And even though we weren’t technically married, we still acted like newly weds.

“What do you mean they’re all gone?” President Todds screamed at Carson.

“I’m sorry, Bryce. But they’re all gone. All of them, even the distant cousins and family friends. None of them are there.” Carson explained. Bryce decided to capture my family after he aired the threat. I warned him, I knew that was a bad idea. But he wouldn’t listen.

“Dammit. Now what do we do?” He asked angrily.

“We could get all their pictures and post them on the news stations, just like with the mutt and Dimitri.” Christian offered.

“No, there’s too many of them. We need to focus on Dimitri and that thing he’s with.” He sighed and ran his hands over his beard. He then turned to me and glared.

Screenshot-5669

“This is all your fault. You suggested this, and now we’ve lost all of our leverage.” His voice didn’t even sound like him. His growling reminded me of the strange animals on the television.

“I-I’m sorry Sir. I didn’t think they could all escape so fast.” I gulped. Even though I warned him this would happen, he still blamed me. But I knew better than to talk back.

“I’m going to slit your throat, you piece of shit fairy.” He made the throat slitting gesture.

Screenshot-5671

“Dad, ease up a bit. She didn’t know. Why would anyone assume that an entire family could just up in leave without a trace in a day? It’s an easy mistake.”  Christian gave me a sympathetic look. President Todds was ruthless, we all knew that. And for some reason, Christian was trying to save me from his wrath.

“Shut it. She screwed this up, she must pay.”

Screenshot-5670

I gulped again. I screwed him over big time, and now I was probably going to die.

Screenshot-5678

“Dimitri, are you sure this is a good idea?” I asked my husband as we sat at the table, waiting for the witch to come. He’d called her, and asked her to help us with this situation with my family.

“Positive. She’s going to help us.” He assured me just as the doorbell rang. I jumped a little, I’d never heard it before. We never got any visitors up here. “I’ll get it.” He rushed off to let our guest in.

Screenshot-5680

A few seconds later, Dimitri strolled back into the kitchen with an elderly woman in tow. I couldn’t help but clutch my chair tightly. Part of me knew she wasn’t human, but she looked so much like them it was hard for me not to fear her.

“Jasmine, this is Adrienne. Adrienne, this is my wife, Jasmine.”

“Hello dear. How’re you doing? This all must be so hard on you.” I expected a frail, soft voice from the woman but her voice was booming, but oddly comforting.

“I’m dealing, thank you.”

Screenshot-5682

Adrienne conjured a lamp out of nowhere, making both Dimitri and I gasp. She chuckled at our reactions as she set it onto the table.

“Alright, so I will use this lamp to see your family. It will tell me where they are, and if they’re alive or not.” She explained.

“Will we be able to see anything?” Dimitri wondered.

“No, but I’ll tell you what I see afterword.” She pressed her hands together and started chanting in a language I didn’t understand. It sounded like giberish to me. I was about to stop her, until the lap started to glow purple.

Screenshot-5683

“What’s it saying?” I couldn’t help but ask.

“It’s saying a lot of things. Your family is safe, all of them. Your cousins, grandparents, parents, even family friends have all gotten to safety.” She told me with a small smile.

“Where are they?”

“I can’t tell, there must be a spell, hiding their location from me.”

Screenshot-5684

“Is it saying anything else?” Dimitri questioned.

“Yes, it’s saying that a Fae named Ivy is in a lot of pain. It’s telling me she’s committed many crimes, and now she’s paying for it.” Her voice was pained. I didn’t share her unhappiness however, my sister was the one who betrayed my family and got them into this mess.

Not long after, she stopped the spell and the lap turned itself off. She waved her hand, and the lamp vanished as quickly as it appeared.

Screenshot-5686

“Thank you so much for your information, Adrienne, but I have one more think to ask.” Dimitri stopped her before she left.

“What do you need? I’m glad to help.”

“I need you to help us fake our deaths. If they think we’re dead, they’ll stop looking for Jasmine’s family and we can live without fear.” He asked quietly.

“Oh Dimitri, I can definitely fake your death. But, just your death. I can recreate your body no problem, but Jasmine’s mixed status keeps me from recreating her. There’s also the baby, I can’t recreate a pregnant woman.” She explained.

“Pregnant?” I whispered.

“Oh, did you not know? Sorry, dear.”

Screenshot-5691

No, I definitely didn’t know.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 18: Then There Were Three

*Ivy*

Screenshot-5555

“It’s been almost two years people, how have we not found them yet?” President Todds’ voice boomed through the small conference room. “My son isn’t that smart, he can’t hide from me like this.”

Screenshot-5557

After I graduated high school, I moved to Bridgeport. My idiotic sister had escaped from the facility, and they were looking for any possible leads they could get. When I told them I was her sister and I was willing to help capture her, they hired me on the spot despite me being Fae.

Now, it had been almost two years since my sister and President Todds’ son had escaped. We had no leads, no sightings, no anything. It was like they completely vanished off the planet.

Screenshot-5562

“Their boat might have capsized, Sir.” Christian, President Todds’ younger son, chimed in. After they disappeared, no one knew how they got away until I showed up. I told them how my sister left the Valley on the boat, and how I thought they must’ve escaped from here on it too. “We might not even have anything to search for.”

“We need to know for sure, Christian.” He spat at him for the hundredth time. They always had this conversation, every meeting.

Screenshot-5564

“Bryce, it’s been two years. They can’t possibly be alive still without a sighting. Their pictures are plastered on TV screens all over the world. There’s a five million dollar reward for the person that finds them. If anyone saw them, I doubt they’d turn down that possibility.” Carson explained calmly to Todds. Carson was the President of Starlight Shores, but he often flew over here for meetings with the council.

“No, they aren’t dead. I’m sure of it.” He sounded like he was trying to convince himself, rather than us. I had a feeling he didn’t want them to be dead. No matter what Dimitri did, he was still President Todds’ son. My guess was that he still had hope that he could change him.

Screenshot-5569

“Well if they aren’t dead, then why haven’t we found them yet?” Rockwell asked angrily. He was bitter, he was shot in the knee during their escape and hasn’t been able to walk right ever since.

“I don’t know, but obviously our method’s aren’t working. We need a new idea.” President Todds threw his fists down on one of the tables.

Screenshot-5573

That’s when I came up with an idea. My ideas weren’t always taken seriously here, but I had to try and convince them that I was committed.

“Well, wherever they are, they’re probably keeping tabs on everything, right? I mean if I were a fugitive, I’d want to know what the government was doing to try and find me, so I could stay one step ahead of them. If we air a message to them, threatening them in some kind of way, maybe they’ll turn themselves in.” I suggested. The best way to catch a criminal was to think like one.

“How can we be sure they’re watching?” Christian asked and crossed his arms. He was completely convinced they were dead, and got upset whenever we came up with new plans centered on them being alive. He also didn’t like me very much. Originally he tried to get me kicked off the council, no matter how many times his father insisted I was essential.

“We can’t, but it wouldn’t hurt to air something, right? If they see it, then we’ve got them. If they don’t, then no harm no foul.”

“She’s right, actually.” Carson chimed in, sounding shocked that someone of my occult could come up with such a brilliant idea. “Bryce, what do you think?”

Screenshot-5574

“I think it’s a good plan, but what could we threaten them with? If only we could get a hold of that child of hers…” He stroked his beard in thought.

“What about our family? My sister cares about them a lot more than I do. Threatening their lives would hurt her a lot more than it would hurt me.” I offered. Before I left for Bridgeport, I told my parents how I felt about everything. About F.R.O., about humans, about my sister. They were shocked, I made my mother cry and my sister punched me in the face. But I didn’t care, they meant nothing to me anymore. All that mattered was pleasing the humans.

“Can we do that?” One of the scientists asked.

“I can’t see why not.” I shrugged.

“Do we take them into custody, or fake the threat?” Carson asked me for my approval.

“Either way I don’t care. Do whatever you please, Sir.”

“I’ll have to think about it, but we’re definitely airing a threat.” President Todds grinned maliciously. I could feel the excitement in the room. This time we might get them, we’ll finally be able to punish them for what they’ve done. I couldn’t wait.

*Jasmine*

Screenshot-5581

Beside’s keeping up with Stone, there wasn’t much for Dimitri and I to do. One day out of extreme boredom, I started to write. At first it started out as a way for me to vent, but as time went on I realized I wasn’t terrible at writing. So I started a book. Or more specifically, I started an auto biography. But I didn’t write it for publishing. I wrote it as a way to cope with what I’d been through. It was helping, and it was a great way to kill time while Stone was napping.

Screenshot-5584

“Momma?” Stone’s voice whispered from behind his pacifier. I sighed, he’d been climbing out of his crib lately when he should be napping. Dimitri suggested we stop putting him down for naps, but I didn’t think we should enable him like that. He was still a baby, he needed them.

“What’re you doing up?” I scolded. He shrunk back and hid behind his hands.

“I wanna see Dada.” He smiled innocently.

Screenshot-5585

I shut my laptop and swiveled my chair around to face my mischievous little toddler.

“Oh yea? You wanna see Daddy?” I asked, and he nodded excitedly. “How bad?”

Screenshot-5586

“So bad I could dawce!”  He yelled excitedly, then started to dance around our room. This was becoming routine, he’d come in here, dance and scream ‘la la la’ over and over until I took him downstairs to see Dimitri. At first it was slightly annoying, but now I played along because it was pretty adorable.

“Alright, that’s enough Bud.” I stopped his little dance rountine. “C’mon, let’s go see Daddy.” I swept him up into my arms and he giggled with delight.

Screenshot-5589

“Yay!” He squealed as I tickled him.

“You are a devious little boy, aren’t you?” I asked, and he smiled sheepishly at me. I couldn’t help but giggle.

Screenshot-5592

“Dada!” Stone screeched as we descended the stairs. Stone loved Dimitri, he was definitely a Daddy’s boy. I didn’t really mind, I was just glad Stone had a father figure in his life.

Screenshot-5593

Dimitri didn’t respond to Stone calling out for him. As I got closer to him, I realized something was wrong.

“Dimitri, is everything alright?” I asked. He didn’t answer me verbally, he just shook his head. I put Stone down on the ground and instructed him to go play. But in a true Stone fashion, he disobeyed and ran up to his dad.

Screenshot-5596

“Dada, don’ cwy.” He wrapped his little arm’s around Dimitri’s shin. “It’s otay.”

“Thanks, Bud.” He ruffled Stone’s hair and gave him a half-assed smile. “Now go play.”

“Otay!” He giggled and ran off to his toy box.

Screenshot-5597

“Babe, what’s wrong?” I asked when I plopped down next to him.

“Watch.” He instructed, after rewinding the TV.

Screenshot-5602....

“Hello, this is President Todds of Bridgeport. I have a message, but unless you are my son or the mutt he’s hiding with, then you can disregard this. Dimitri, as you know, we’ve been looking for you for almost two years now. All we want is the Mutt. If you give her to us, you will be free of all charges. I know you care for the thing, but is this really worth it? We have her family, if you don’t turn yourselves in within the next three months, we’re going to kill each one of them on national television. That may not mean anything to you, son. But it means something to that mutt. I’ll let you decide what to do, hopefully I will see both of you within the next three months. Thank you.” A man who claimed to be Dimitri’s father spoke to him from our tiny television screen. It was obvious he was, judging by Dimi’s reaction. I paused the TV when I noticed something, something I hoped I was seeing wrong.

Screenshot-5604

“Oh my god, that’s my sister.” I leaned in close to the TV to get a better look. I knew my family anywhere, and that was without a doubt my little sister.

“What?” He looked up at the screen with tears in his eyes.

“That’s Ivy, my little sister. What the hell is she doing there?” I asked with disbelief.

“She must be working with them, that must be how they found your family.”

“No. That can’t be. She was a good kid, there’s no way she could be on their side. I’m her sister for fucks sake!”

Screenshot-5607

I couldn’t stand the thought of my little sister turning against me and my family like this. Why would she do this to us? What were her motives? I couldn’t come up with a reasonable answer, and I don’t think I’ll ever understand.

“Shh, I’m here Jazz.” Dimitri held me as I cried in his arms.

“What’re we gonna do? We can’t turn ourselves in, not while Stone is so young. But we also can’t just let my family die.”

Screenshot-5612

“Hey, don’t worry. I’ll figure something out, alright? I promise, no one is gonna die and no one is turning themselves in.” Dimitri looked me in the eye and promised.

“How, what can you do?”

“Just trust me, alright? I can fix this.”

Screenshot-5617

“I trust you.” I sighed. Even though I trusted him, I still worried. There was too much on the line right now, it was hard to just accept that he’d take care of it. But I had to let him, I had no way of doing it on my own.

“Good. Now, let’s watch something a little happier, yea?” He pulled me into a quick kiss and turned to Stone who was blissfully unaware of everything that had been happening. “Hey Bud, wanna watch some TV?”

“Yea Dada!” He grabbed his toy monster and crawled over to us.

Screenshot-5620

We all sat on the floor and watched one of Stone’s kid shows. He was totally engrossed in the show, while Dimitri and I were barely paying attention.

“He’s so perfect, don’t you agree?” Dimitri gave me a small smile.

“For the most part, yea I guess.” I chucked. Dimitri playfully smacked my leg. “Maybe I should turn myself in.” I whispered quietly. Right now, it seemed like the best option.

“What? I thought we discussed this. Why would you wanna do that?”

“Well, if I do that, the two of you will be in the clear. They’ll stop looking for you, and you guys can live in peace. He’s young, if I do it now he won’t remember me, it won’t hurt him as much as if I waited.”

“No.” He scolded. “You can’t. He needs you. I need you.” He placed his hand on my knee and gave me a kiss.

“Babe, you guys could live a normal life. You can get a job, he can go to school and make friends. You could get married, even have more kids. It’s the best option.” I suggested.

“No, no. You’re the only person I want to spend my life with. You are not leaving us.”

“Fine.” I laid back against the couch and sighed. This discussion was not over.

*Iris*

Screenshot-5625

After Ivy pulled her stupid little stunt, my parents were devastated. My mom quit her job, my dad barely ever even left their room. Neither of them had been doing well, especially with the warrant out on my eldest sister’s head. Before my twin left I had plans for my life. I was going to move out, get a house with a few friends of mine. I was going to work at the private investigator firm in town, it operates out of the same building as F.R.O. But all my plans were put on hold for the time being while my parents recovered.

We spent a lot of time together recently. They rarely let me out of their sight. Not that I blamed them, they’ve already lost two daughters. I was a little frustrated, I was young and I wanted to have fun. But my stupid twin took that from me. She took everything from me. She took away my ability to trust people. Ivy was the one person in my life I thought I could trust, but I was wrong. All this time, she wanted to please the humans. All this time she was against us. After she left, I shut everyone but my parents out. I couldn’t trust anyone.

Screenshot-5626....

My parent’s and I were sitting at home watching TV. They had on Uncle Maple’s latest movie, but I was paying more attention to my laptop than the television. Things were quiet, until their program was interrupted with breaking news.

A man appeared on the screen. He was a vampire, and he claimed to be the president of Bridgeport. The place my sister moved to, the place my older sister ended up.  My head shot up to the screen at the mention of the town. My eyes instantly fell onto a dark purple figure behind him. Ivy.

The man spoke to Jasmine and a man named Dimitri. Over the years, we learned that this man broke my sister out of the facility and now they were no where to be found. The man then said something that peaked my interest even more. He mentioned us, Jasmine’s family. He said he had us, but that was obviously a bluff. I glanced nervously over at my father. Even though his mouth was closed I could tell he was clenching his teeth.

Then the man threatened to kill us if my sister and this man didn’t turn themselves in within the next three months.

Screenshot-5630

“Dad, do you think…” I jumped off the floor in shock. He didn’t answer, he just stared intently at the screen. My mind was racing, they were obviously lying about holding us, but what if they were coming for us? Were they really going to kill us, on national television? My mind was racing with questions, but I didn’t ask any of them in fear of setting off my mother.

Screenshot-5631

“No.” My mom whispered as she too got up. “This can’t be happening, right? This has to be some kind of sick joke.” She was hysterical. I knew better than to try and comfort her, last time she freaked out and accidentally elbowed me in the face.

Nobody said anything as the message ended and the movie returned to their screen.

Screenshot-5633

“Pack a bag, both of you.” My dad demanded in a gruff voice I’ve never heard him use before.

“Where are w-” I started to question him, but he shot me a glare that could kill me.

“Not now Iris. Just pack a bag, I need to make some calls.” He pulled his cellphone out and bounded up the stairs, without a doubt to go pack a bag.

Screenshot-5634

I glanced around the living room. If we were leaving tonight, there was a chance we’d never come back here. I grew up in this house, I’d lived there my entire life. It was a strange feeling, to know that this was the last time you’d be seeing such familiar sights.

But right now was not the time for nostalgia. I snapped out of it, and nudged Mom. The two of us followed my father upstairs to collect some belongings. My stomach sunk as I finally realized who must be behind this all. This was without a doubt all my twin sister’s idea.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 17: Sun

Screenshot-5469

About a month and a half into our stay at the cabin, I was finally starting to show. I was also questioning if I should even be having this baby. No child should have to live in hiding like this. It just wasn’t fair. I wished my circumstances were different, I wished I didn’t have to be in hiding like this. Not for me, but for my child. They deserve to have friends, family, and an education. I couldn’t give that to them. Not here.

Screenshot-5473

“Everything alright Jazz?” Dimitri asked from behind me. I jumped a little, not expecting him to be right behind me.

“Just thinking.” I sighed.

“About the baby?” He asked, and I nodded.

“I’m just worried I won’t be able to give them everything they need, y’know?”

Screenshot-5476

“I know, but we can try. Remember, you’re not in this alone. I’m gonna be right here beside you.”

“Thanks Dimi, but what’re we gonna do about school? How is the baby gonna get an education?” I had been stressing about this for awhile, it was nice to finally say it out loud. I was worrying about a lot of things when it came to the baby. The nursery, the house, the ocean, the school, the lack of friends. I guess I was just gonna be one of those mothers.

“They have online school. I can have my witch friends set it up. They run this place, they’ll let your kid get an education, I promise.”

Screenshot-5484

“I promise, this little kid is gonna get everything they could possibly need.” He smiled, while gently placing a hand on my protruding belly.

“Y’know, if I had to choose anyone to be stuck with in a cabin on an abandoned island, I’d choose you all over again.” I was tearing up, he was being so amazing to me and I had no idea how to show my gratitude.

Screenshot-5486

“Thanks, Jazz. That really means a lot.” He pulled me into a hug, but he was careful not to crush my belly.

“No, thank you Dimitri. You’re the best.”

——–

Screenshot-5487 Screenshot-5489 Screenshot-5490

About a month before my due date, Dimitri had his interior designer and her crew come up and design us a nursery. We had no way of finding out the gender of my baby, so we had the nursery decorated in neutral colors.

“So, what do you think?” Dimitri asked giddily as he showed me the room for the first time.

“It’s amazing.” I said in awe. “Thank you so much, Dimi.”

Screenshot-5494

“You’re welcome Jazzy.” He laughed before pulling my into a hug. “Now all we gotta do is wait for the little sucker to get here.”

——–

Screenshot-5496

We didn’t have to wait very long. That night, a horrible pain from my stomach woke me from my sleep.

“DIMITRI, IT’S TIME.” I screamed.

Screenshot-5497

“Are you sure?” He asked as he rushed into my room.

“Pretty damn sure.”

Screenshot-5498

Dimitri pulled my desk chair up to the side of my bed and held my hand. “It might be a few hours before you can push.”

“God, I wish I were in a hospital right now.” I mumbled as another contraction hit.

“How about I distract you? Have you thought of a name yet?” He asked, his voice strained from how hard I was squeezing his hand.

“Stone if it’s a boy, Skye if it’s a girl.”

“Those names are perfect.” He smiled at me. I managed to smile back despite the pain I was in.

Screenshot-5501

Three hours and one clothes change later, I was finally dilated enough to start pushing.

“Alright, c’mon Jazz. Just one more push.” Dimitri coached me. I knew he was only trying to help, but I wanted to kick him in the face.

“AHHH.” I screamed, as I pushed the baby all the way out.

Screenshot-5506

Even after I gave birth to my son, Stone, Dimitri stayed by our side.

“He’s beautiful Jazz.” He said dreamily.

“Thank you. Let’s hope he ends up more like you than his actual father.” I whispered, half asleep. I saw Dimitri smile widely just before I drifted off.

———

Screenshot-5509

“Dimitri, is this really a good idea?” I asked. Stone was about a week old, and that night after he fell asleep Dimitri and I decided to light up some fireworks he bought on his bi-weekly trip to the grocery store.

“Why would it be a bad idea? This is gonna be awesome.” He explained. His demeanor reminded me of a hyper ten year old boy.

“Well for one it might attract attention to us.”

“We’re fine. Don’t worry.” He lit the fuse and we both ran back so we wouldn’t get burnt.

Screenshot-5513

“Shit, shit!” Dimitri shouted. The fireworks shot off sideways into the sand, catching it on fire.

“Here!” I tossed him the fire extinguisher I brought out with us, just in case. Dimitri tackled the flames, putting them out within seconds.

Screenshot-5516

“That was close, huh?” He laughed.

“Yea, let’s not do that anymore.” I approached him and pulled him into a hug.

“Woah, what’s this for?”

“Dunno, I guess I’m just a little freaked from the fire.”

Screenshot-5517

“It’s alright, no one got hurt.” He assured me. I gently grabbed his hands and pulled him close to me.

“Thank you Dimi, for everything you’ve done for me.”

“You’ve thanked me a million times, you don’t have to keep thanking me.”

“But I feel like I’ll never be able to thank you enough.” I admitted. Then, I decided to ask something that’s been on my mind throughout the months we’ve been here. “Dimitri, why’d you do it? Why’d you throw your entire life away to save me?”

He didn’t answer, he just looked me in the eyes and gave me a crooked smile.

“What?”

Screenshot-5518

He didn’t respond, instead he pulled me into a kiss. Before this moment, I never realized how bad I wanted to kiss him. Now that I was, my heart was soaring. The only time I ever remember being this happy was holding my son in my arms for the first time.

———-

Screenshot-5522

Living on a island definitely had it’s advantages. The beach was absolutely gorgeous, the water here was practically clear. Sunset Valley was nothing compared to our own private paradise.

Dimitri and I hadn’t discussed our kiss the night before. Immediately afterwords we went inside and went to sleep, in separate beds mind you. We still hadn’t talked about it, but things weren’t awkward between us.

I knew he’d be bringing it up soon. We brought Stone outside in his swing, and now the two of us were playing in the water.

Screenshot-5526

After a particularly large splash from Dimitri, I laughed and said “Maybe we should get back over to Stone.”

“Aw, someone can’t handle losing the splashing competition?” He mocked, making me roll my eyes.

“Oh, I’ll beat you, just not today.” I joked as I walked up the beach towards our blanket. I plopped down in from of Stone, Dimitri doing the same a few seconds later.

Screenshot-5528

“So Jazz, I think we should talk.” Dimitri’s tone was serious, the joking one he was using only a minute earlier was completely gone.

“I agree, we’re probably going to be living here for the rest of our lives. We’re gonna have to talk about this.”

“Well, I wanna know how you feel about me. I’ve always had feelings for you, ever since you drove up on your boat.” He admitted.

“Really?”

“Yea. But do you have feelings for me?” He asked hopefully.

Screenshot-5530

“Honestly, before last night I never really thought about it. But after we kissed, I guess I realized I do have feelings for you.” I looked down at the ocean, I didn’t want to see his expression, I was unsure whether he’d be upset or not.

“So now what?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, are we just gonna be friends, or are we gonna be more than that?”

Screenshot-5531

“Well,” I started my sentence without knowing how I was gonna finish. “I mean, what happens if something goes wrong? Like if we break up? It would be a little awkward, don’t you think?”

“Well, I can leave, if that’s what you would want after we break up, if we did. I would do whatever you want, I’d hate to make you uncomfortable. But we can cross that bridge when we get to it, if we get to it.”

Screenshot-5533

“Well then, I guess now I’ll have to start calling you my boyfriend.” I giggled, and climbed onto him. I kissed him hard and passionately, signalling I wanted to do more than just kiss.

“Really? Here? In front of your son?”

“He’s asleep, and he’s a baby. He’ll never remember.” I laughed as I kissed him again. But I pulled back to add one more thing. “Oh, and he’s not my son. He’s our son.”

Jasmine Fae Chapter 16: New Home

Screenshot-5408

“Jazz, we’re so sorry. I intended to wait for you, but one night Venus and I got really drunk, and ended up sleeping together. She got pregnant, and well we got married.” He was about to say something else but I held my hands out in a stopping motion.

“Stop. Just stop. I don’t want to hear this. Look, I’m leaving, for good this time, so neither of you will have to deal with me anymore. Have a nice life.”

Screenshot-5410

“Wait Jasmine, come back.” Ash called for me as I flew away as fast as I could. Standing there, watching my cousin and my ex start their little family was too hard. It was childish to run away, but that’s kind of my thing. I always run away when things get hard.

Screenshot-5411

I ran all the way back to the beach. After seeing what happened to them after I left, I couldn’t handle seeing what happened to the rest of my family while I was gone. I also didn’t want to disrupt their lives. So far it seemed like everyone had excepted that I died, and they were all happy now. Ruining that illusion would be selfish.

Screenshot-5412

“You’re back early.” Dimitri stated from behind me. We had only been here for forty-five minutes, and I already wanted to get back on the boat and leave.

“You’re early too, did you get all the stuff?” I tried to avert the conversation away from me.

“I did, did you see all you’re family members?” He asked, already knowing the answer. I shook my head.

Screenshot-5413

“He married my best friend, who also happens to be my cousin. They’re having a baby together.” I said with a sarcastic laugh as I pulled myself out of the sand. “I really don’t wanna see how happy the rest of my family is, since they all think I’m dead.”

“Let’s go then.” He ushered me off the beach and back into the boat.

He didn’t say anything as he started up the boat and drove off into the horizon. This was the second time I was boating away from the Valley, but this time I knew I would never be coming back.

“How long until we get to safety?” I asked, he wouldn’t tell me where we were going, all he would say was that it was the safest place he could find.

“About a week, if we take turns driving.”

*One week later*

The water here was a bright blue, unlike the dull blue’s like the ocean’s surrounding the Valley and Bridgeport.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“Isla Paradiso, it’s an place full of witches. They’ve agreed to let us live here, we have our own private island.” He said with a smile.

“Wow.” The house we would be living in came into view. It looked gorgeous on the outside, I just hoped the same could be said for the inside.

When we got to the house, we pulled the boat onto land and immediately headed for the front door.

“Alright, I hope you like it. But if you don’t, I can have an interior designer come and make it however you want.”

“You don’t have to do that Dimi, it can’t be that bad.” I laughed nervously. I really hoped this place wasn’t terrible.

“It’s no problem, she’s already coming to decorate the nursery.” He explained while he unlocked the door. The mention of a nursery reminded me of the baby growing inside me. I almost forgot it was there. Almost.

We stepped inside the house, and all previous doubt washed away. “Dimitri, this place is perfect!” I laughed excitedly.

It was quaint and simple. It would be the perfect place to raise my child.

“I’m glad you like it, Jazz. You can have the master, I’ll take one of the other rooms.”

“How many bedrooms does this place have?”

“Three.”

“Awesome. I’m gonna go take a nap.” I told him as I started heading up the stairs.

“Alright, there are some clothes for you in the dresser, if you’d like to change.” He called out to me as he headed for the kitchen.

“Thanks Dimi.”

The second story was just bedrooms, with a little nook with an easel by the window. As I opened the doors, trying to find the master, I couldn’t help but wonder, how long had Dimitri been planning this? I was only in the facility for a month, could he have planned this in that amount of time, or was he planning on moving out here and getting away from his family?

My thoughts disappeared when I found the master bedroom. Just the view out the window was gorgeous, and the bedroom itself was plain and simple, just like I like it.

The bed looked so, so comfortable. After sleeping in a boat for a little less than a month, I couldn’t wait to flop down and sleep.

I didn’t even change my clothes before throwing myself onto the bed. It was even more comfortable than I imagined.

As I started to dose off, I pulled my little animal from my pocket. Dimitri grabbed it off my dresser when he left, it was the only thing in the room I brought with me when I came to Bridgeport, so he figured it was important to me.

I remembered the day Ash won the little animal for me. I had just told him I was leaving, and I took it with me to remember him by. Every night before I fell asleep I’d look at it and think of him. I used to imagine what it would be like to be back in his arms. But now, the little animal just reminded me of what I used to have, what I lost. I drifted off as tears started to form in the corners of my eyes.

When I woke up a few hours later, I changed out of my dirty clothes and headed downstairs to find Dimitri.

“Hey Jazz, how you feeling?” He asked as I descended the staircase.

“I’m feeling great, how about you?”

“I’m alright.”

“What’s up?” I took a seat on the couch opposite of him.

“Dunno, I guess I’m just worried. I don’t want them to hurt our families, y’know?” He sighed.

“Isn’t your father in charge?” I wondered aloud.

“Yea, but after what I did I doubt he will be for any longer. He’s the one who gave me my place on the council. They’re gonna go after him.” He ran his fingers through his hair, it was obvious he was stressed.

Screenshot-5446

“Well if you’re dad is even half as smart as you are, he’ll be able to get them all out safely.” I assured him.

“What about you’re family?”

“Don’t worry about them, they’ll never be able to find them. I haven’t been completely honest with you.” I admitted.

“What do you mean?” He gave me a confused look.

“My last name isn’t Blu, it’s Fae.”

Screenshot-5445

“Fae? Like the Royal family Fae?” I nodded. “Wow. I wasn’t expecting that.”

“Yea. So if they try and track me down with my fake last name, they won’t be able to find my family.”

“That’s good then.”

“Don’t stress Dimi. You did the right thing, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to thank you enough.”

“No need.” He smiled at me.

Screenshot-5453

“Oh shut it.” I laughed as I walked over to his couch and sprawled across his lap. “So, what’re we watching?”

“Dunno, we don’t get a lot of channels out here.”

“Eh, that’s okay. Do we have any DVDs?”

“Yea, I’ll pop one in.”
