Lake Fae Chapter 12: Time Stands Still

A/N: Hey guys! So sorry for the long wait, but I have an announcement. I made an ask.fm for the Fae’s where you can ask me or the characters anything you want. You can find it here, send me an ask and I’ll answer it as soon as I can. Thanks and enjoy the chapter!

I hadn’t slept in days. Part of me knew I would wake up and for a split second I would think this had all been a terrible nightmare, then I’d have the crushing realization that it was real life. I wasn’t ready to deal with that yet. So I did whatever I could to stay awake, but now it was starting to catch up to me.

It was the day of the funeral. Everyone gathered around in some stuffy church downtown and listened to some old guy talk about what an amazing young woman my sister was. It was drab and dull, it was not the type of thing my sister would’ve wanted. Now, everyone had come back to our house for food and to express their condolences to my family.

But after the millionth awkward hug, I couldn’t take it anymore. When no one was looking I snuck off into my bedroom to have some quiet time. Well, as quiet as I could get, I could hear the buzz of chatter through the floor. However, it was a lot better than doing the talking myself.

Screenshot-6796

“Lake, Baby, are you in here?” Freesia’s voice asked as she slowly opened the door.

“Yeah, I’m here.” I answered halfheartedly from the floor.

“No one could find you, they’re looking for you.” She sounded worried, I didn’t blame her. If I found her lying on the floor next to a few bottles of pills and beer, I’d be worried too. Freesia didn’t express her worry though, which I was grateful for. I didn’t want to explain myself to her.

Screenshot-6799

“How are things down there?” I asked, trying to avoid the ‘how are you?’ question everyone had been asking me today, I didn’t need it from her too.

“Weird. Lots of small talk, nobody really knows what to say.” She sighed. “This is all so weird.”

“Yea.” I nodded in agreement, I wasn’t sure what to say either.

“Can I sit?” She asked with a small smile. I nodded and patted the rug next to me.

Screenshot-6801

“Did you…” She didn’t finish her question, she just eyed the small stash I had piled next to me.

“No, I was thinking about it though.” I admitted. I had come in the room all worked up, I grabbed a bunch of stuff and I was gonna try and overdose. But I ultimately decided against it, it wouldn’t help anything.

“Have you slept at all?” Freesia asked softly while cupping my chin in her hands.

“Not yet. You know I can’t.”

Screenshot-6802

She didn’t respond right away, she just climbed over me and laid on my chest. “Then you know what, why don’t we take a nap together? That way you don’t have to wake up alone.”

“I’ll be asleep for a long time, it’s been days.”

“That’s ok, if I wake up first I’ll stay until you wake up. However long that takes.”

“You’d do that for me?”

“Of course, I love you.” She smiled and kissed me softly of the nose. “Now, lets go to sleep.” She put her head down on my chest and wrapped her arm around my torso, and soon enough I was drifting off.

*A few days later*

Screenshot-6809

A week after losing my sister, things started to calm down a bit. There were no longer streams of people coming through our front door. The only people around were Thyme and Thistle, the latter didn’t want to be alone so he was staying with us for a while. He was an absolute wreck, he wasn’t able to go the the beach with my sister and her friends that night and he regretted it. He wished he had died alongside her, just like I did.

The lack of people in our house meant that we’d have to try and get back on a regular schedule again. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like how everyone else got to move on, everyone else got to live their lives normally while we were all here completely shattered. It sucked.

But for now, here we all were sitting around the living room trying to keep ourselves distracted. It wasn’t working very well for me, there was too much on my mind.

Screenshot-6810

“So babe, I’m going back to work tomorrow.” Stone announced to his boyfriend.

“Are you ready?” Thyme asked, his concern for my brother was apparent.

“I have to, they’re starting a huge project and if I don’t go back I can’t be part of it. It’s a really interesting project and I need to be there for it.” Stone explained. I could tell by his voice he wasn’t one-hundred percent ready to go back, but my brother would never turn down an opportunity like this and he was not about to change that now.

“What’s the project?” Thyme didn’t push the subject anymore, he knew my brother’s determination as well as I did and knew he wouldn’t change his mind.

“Time travel, actually. It’s pretty cool. They’ve been working on the theory for some time now, and they’re finally going to be putting it to the test.”

Screenshot-6808

“What did you just say?” I couldn’t help but butt in, this was huge news.

“Time travel, we’re gonna try and see if we can do it or not.” Stone explained nonchalantly as if this couldn’t change everything.

Screenshot-6814

“Dude, why aren’t you freaking out right now?” I jumped up from the computer desk and ran over to my brother like a child on Christmas.

“Why would I be freaking out?” Stone asked, still not getting it.

“With time travel, we could go back in time and fix things!” I practically yelled at him. His face lit up with realization.

Screenshot-6815

“A-are you really suggesting we go back in time and try and stop her from going?” He asked, swiftly jumping to his feet, followed by a less-enthusiastic Thyme.

“I am, why didn’t you think of this before?”

“I-I don’t know.”

“Because, you’ve seen a lot of sci fi movies, you know this kind of thing never ends well.” Thyme crossed his arms and frowned.

Screenshot-6816

“Not right now Thyme.” Stone spun around so fast I’m surprised he didn’t get whiplash. “I know it doesn’t always work out, but we have to try. We owe it to her to try, she was too young and its unfair. I need to try.” He yelled at Thyme.

Screenshot-6821

“I-I’m sorry, I just don’t want you getting your hopes up. I’m scared of what it might do to you if this doesn’t work out.” Thyme had a point, but it wasn’t strong enough to stop my brother.

“We’ll deal with that when, or if, it ever happens. But for now, we need to try. It’s gonna take weeks for my lab to try and work out the details, but when we do, I’ll bring the blueprints home and recreate it here. That way if anything goes wrong, I won’t break down in front of my coworkers.”

“Couldn’t you get in trouble for that?”

“Maybe, but that’s not important.”

“You know I can’t stop you, but you can’t stop me from worrying.” Thyme smiled slightly at Stone.

“I’ll be careful, I promise.” He smiled back, gave him a quick peck on the lips before turning to me.

Screenshot-6823

“We could fix this.” He smiled at me before throwing himself into my arms. It was a weird feeling, I don’t think I’ve ever hugged my brother in my life. But it was a nice feeling, I actually liked being close to him. I felt like I finally had a brother.

————

*A few weeks later*

Screenshot-6825

“How’s it coming?” I asked Stone for the thousandth time that day. His lab was able to make the time machine work, and since he couldn’t bring it to me or me to it, he was making one of his own. It took forever.

“It would go a lot faster if you stopped asking me.” He growled from behind clenched teeth. “You know you don’t have to stay in here, right?”

“I know, but I want to be here as soon as it’s finished. I want to get this done as soon as possible.”

“Fine, but maybe things would go faster if you played with the Foosball table.”

Screenshot-6829

“Fine.” I stood up and made my way over to the game. I started lazily kicking the ball around, but it wasn’t doing anything to pass the time.

“Do you remember the plan?” Stone asked me after a few minutes of mindless playing.

“Of course, we’ve been working on this for weeks.” Over the past few weeks while Stone’s lab was working on the machine, we were strategizing and planning for our rescue mission. It was the only thing we talked about, it was the only thing we thought about. If we could bring our sister back, we needed to put all of our energy into it.

Screenshot-6832

Finally, after weeks of planning and almost twenty-four hours of constant building, it was time. The machine was finished and now I was going to make my rescue.

“Are you ready?” Stone asked me, he was visibly exhausted after all the hours he put into this.

“I’ve been ready for a long time.” I smirked at him, before moving my way over to the keypad. He’d explained to me how to use it multiple times, it was simple enough.

Screenshot-6833

I pushed the keys that represented the day my sister passed. My fingers were shaking, I was scared as hell but there was no way I was backing out. My sister needed me.

Screenshot-6834

The metal doors instantly slid open, revealing a blinding purple light. I turned around and gave Stone a small wave before holding my breath.

Screenshot-6836 Screenshot-6837

This was it, I was gonna save my sister.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 18: Then There Were Three

*Ivy*

Screenshot-5555

“It’s been almost two years people, how have we not found them yet?” President Todds’ voice boomed through the small conference room. “My son isn’t that smart, he can’t hide from me like this.”

Screenshot-5557

After I graduated high school, I moved to Bridgeport. My idiotic sister had escaped from the facility, and they were looking for any possible leads they could get. When I told them I was her sister and I was willing to help capture her, they hired me on the spot despite me being Fae.

Now, it had been almost two years since my sister and President Todds’ son had escaped. We had no leads, no sightings, no anything. It was like they completely vanished off the planet.

Screenshot-5562

“Their boat might have capsized, Sir.” Christian, President Todds’ younger son, chimed in. After they disappeared, no one knew how they got away until I showed up. I told them how my sister left the Valley on the boat, and how I thought they must’ve escaped from here on it too. “We might not even have anything to search for.”

“We need to know for sure, Christian.” He spat at him for the hundredth time. They always had this conversation, every meeting.

Screenshot-5564

“Bryce, it’s been two years. They can’t possibly be alive still without a sighting. Their pictures are plastered on TV screens all over the world. There’s a five million dollar reward for the person that finds them. If anyone saw them, I doubt they’d turn down that possibility.” Carson explained calmly to Todds. Carson was the President of Starlight Shores, but he often flew over here for meetings with the council.

“No, they aren’t dead. I’m sure of it.” He sounded like he was trying to convince himself, rather than us. I had a feeling he didn’t want them to be dead. No matter what Dimitri did, he was still President Todds’ son. My guess was that he still had hope that he could change him.

Screenshot-5569

“Well if they aren’t dead, then why haven’t we found them yet?” Rockwell asked angrily. He was bitter, he was shot in the knee during their escape and hasn’t been able to walk right ever since.

“I don’t know, but obviously our method’s aren’t working. We need a new idea.” President Todds threw his fists down on one of the tables.

Screenshot-5573

That’s when I came up with an idea. My ideas weren’t always taken seriously here, but I had to try and convince them that I was committed.

“Well, wherever they are, they’re probably keeping tabs on everything, right? I mean if I were a fugitive, I’d want to know what the government was doing to try and find me, so I could stay one step ahead of them. If we air a message to them, threatening them in some kind of way, maybe they’ll turn themselves in.” I suggested. The best way to catch a criminal was to think like one.

“How can we be sure they’re watching?” Christian asked and crossed his arms. He was completely convinced they were dead, and got upset whenever we came up with new plans centered on them being alive. He also didn’t like me very much. Originally he tried to get me kicked off the council, no matter how many times his father insisted I was essential.

“We can’t, but it wouldn’t hurt to air something, right? If they see it, then we’ve got them. If they don’t, then no harm no foul.”

“She’s right, actually.” Carson chimed in, sounding shocked that someone of my occult could come up with such a brilliant idea. “Bryce, what do you think?”

Screenshot-5574

“I think it’s a good plan, but what could we threaten them with? If only we could get a hold of that child of hers…” He stroked his beard in thought.

“What about our family? My sister cares about them a lot more than I do. Threatening their lives would hurt her a lot more than it would hurt me.” I offered. Before I left for Bridgeport, I told my parents how I felt about everything. About F.R.O., about humans, about my sister. They were shocked, I made my mother cry and my sister punched me in the face. But I didn’t care, they meant nothing to me anymore. All that mattered was pleasing the humans.

“Can we do that?” One of the scientists asked.

“I can’t see why not.” I shrugged.

“Do we take them into custody, or fake the threat?” Carson asked me for my approval.

“Either way I don’t care. Do whatever you please, Sir.”

“I’ll have to think about it, but we’re definitely airing a threat.” President Todds grinned maliciously. I could feel the excitement in the room. This time we might get them, we’ll finally be able to punish them for what they’ve done. I couldn’t wait.

*Jasmine*

Screenshot-5581

Beside’s keeping up with Stone, there wasn’t much for Dimitri and I to do. One day out of extreme boredom, I started to write. At first it started out as a way for me to vent, but as time went on I realized I wasn’t terrible at writing. So I started a book. Or more specifically, I started an auto biography. But I didn’t write it for publishing. I wrote it as a way to cope with what I’d been through. It was helping, and it was a great way to kill time while Stone was napping.

Screenshot-5584

“Momma?” Stone’s voice whispered from behind his pacifier. I sighed, he’d been climbing out of his crib lately when he should be napping. Dimitri suggested we stop putting him down for naps, but I didn’t think we should enable him like that. He was still a baby, he needed them.

“What’re you doing up?” I scolded. He shrunk back and hid behind his hands.

“I wanna see Dada.” He smiled innocently.

Screenshot-5585

I shut my laptop and swiveled my chair around to face my mischievous little toddler.

“Oh yea? You wanna see Daddy?” I asked, and he nodded excitedly. “How bad?”

Screenshot-5586

“So bad I could dawce!”  He yelled excitedly, then started to dance around our room. This was becoming routine, he’d come in here, dance and scream ‘la la la’ over and over until I took him downstairs to see Dimitri. At first it was slightly annoying, but now I played along because it was pretty adorable.

“Alright, that’s enough Bud.” I stopped his little dance rountine. “C’mon, let’s go see Daddy.” I swept him up into my arms and he giggled with delight.

Screenshot-5589

“Yay!” He squealed as I tickled him.

“You are a devious little boy, aren’t you?” I asked, and he smiled sheepishly at me. I couldn’t help but giggle.

Screenshot-5592

“Dada!” Stone screeched as we descended the stairs. Stone loved Dimitri, he was definitely a Daddy’s boy. I didn’t really mind, I was just glad Stone had a father figure in his life.

Screenshot-5593

Dimitri didn’t respond to Stone calling out for him. As I got closer to him, I realized something was wrong.

“Dimitri, is everything alright?” I asked. He didn’t answer me verbally, he just shook his head. I put Stone down on the ground and instructed him to go play. But in a true Stone fashion, he disobeyed and ran up to his dad.

Screenshot-5596

“Dada, don’ cwy.” He wrapped his little arm’s around Dimitri’s shin. “It’s otay.”

“Thanks, Bud.” He ruffled Stone’s hair and gave him a half-assed smile. “Now go play.”

“Otay!” He giggled and ran off to his toy box.

Screenshot-5597

“Babe, what’s wrong?” I asked when I plopped down next to him.

“Watch.” He instructed, after rewinding the TV.

Screenshot-5602....

“Hello, this is President Todds of Bridgeport. I have a message, but unless you are my son or the mutt he’s hiding with, then you can disregard this. Dimitri, as you know, we’ve been looking for you for almost two years now. All we want is the Mutt. If you give her to us, you will be free of all charges. I know you care for the thing, but is this really worth it? We have her family, if you don’t turn yourselves in within the next three months, we’re going to kill each one of them on national television. That may not mean anything to you, son. But it means something to that mutt. I’ll let you decide what to do, hopefully I will see both of you within the next three months. Thank you.” A man who claimed to be Dimitri’s father spoke to him from our tiny television screen. It was obvious he was, judging by Dimi’s reaction. I paused the TV when I noticed something, something I hoped I was seeing wrong.

Screenshot-5604

“Oh my god, that’s my sister.” I leaned in close to the TV to get a better look. I knew my family anywhere, and that was without a doubt my little sister.

“What?” He looked up at the screen with tears in his eyes.

“That’s Ivy, my little sister. What the hell is she doing there?” I asked with disbelief.

“She must be working with them, that must be how they found your family.”

“No. That can’t be. She was a good kid, there’s no way she could be on their side. I’m her sister for fucks sake!”

Screenshot-5607

I couldn’t stand the thought of my little sister turning against me and my family like this. Why would she do this to us? What were her motives? I couldn’t come up with a reasonable answer, and I don’t think I’ll ever understand.

“Shh, I’m here Jazz.” Dimitri held me as I cried in his arms.

“What’re we gonna do? We can’t turn ourselves in, not while Stone is so young. But we also can’t just let my family die.”

Screenshot-5612

“Hey, don’t worry. I’ll figure something out, alright? I promise, no one is gonna die and no one is turning themselves in.” Dimitri looked me in the eye and promised.

“How, what can you do?”

“Just trust me, alright? I can fix this.”

Screenshot-5617

“I trust you.” I sighed. Even though I trusted him, I still worried. There was too much on the line right now, it was hard to just accept that he’d take care of it. But I had to let him, I had no way of doing it on my own.

“Good. Now, let’s watch something a little happier, yea?” He pulled me into a quick kiss and turned to Stone who was blissfully unaware of everything that had been happening. “Hey Bud, wanna watch some TV?”

“Yea Dada!” He grabbed his toy monster and crawled over to us.

Screenshot-5620

We all sat on the floor and watched one of Stone’s kid shows. He was totally engrossed in the show, while Dimitri and I were barely paying attention.

“He’s so perfect, don’t you agree?” Dimitri gave me a small smile.

“For the most part, yea I guess.” I chucked. Dimitri playfully smacked my leg. “Maybe I should turn myself in.” I whispered quietly. Right now, it seemed like the best option.

“What? I thought we discussed this. Why would you wanna do that?”

“Well, if I do that, the two of you will be in the clear. They’ll stop looking for you, and you guys can live in peace. He’s young, if I do it now he won’t remember me, it won’t hurt him as much as if I waited.”

“No.” He scolded. “You can’t. He needs you. I need you.” He placed his hand on my knee and gave me a kiss.

“Babe, you guys could live a normal life. You can get a job, he can go to school and make friends. You could get married, even have more kids. It’s the best option.” I suggested.

“No, no. You’re the only person I want to spend my life with. You are not leaving us.”

“Fine.” I laid back against the couch and sighed. This discussion was not over.

*Iris*

Screenshot-5625

After Ivy pulled her stupid little stunt, my parents were devastated. My mom quit her job, my dad barely ever even left their room. Neither of them had been doing well, especially with the warrant out on my eldest sister’s head. Before my twin left I had plans for my life. I was going to move out, get a house with a few friends of mine. I was going to work at the private investigator firm in town, it operates out of the same building as F.R.O. But all my plans were put on hold for the time being while my parents recovered.

We spent a lot of time together recently. They rarely let me out of their sight. Not that I blamed them, they’ve already lost two daughters. I was a little frustrated, I was young and I wanted to have fun. But my stupid twin took that from me. She took everything from me. She took away my ability to trust people. Ivy was the one person in my life I thought I could trust, but I was wrong. All this time, she wanted to please the humans. All this time she was against us. After she left, I shut everyone but my parents out. I couldn’t trust anyone.

Screenshot-5626....

My parent’s and I were sitting at home watching TV. They had on Uncle Maple’s latest movie, but I was paying more attention to my laptop than the television. Things were quiet, until their program was interrupted with breaking news.

A man appeared on the screen. He was a vampire, and he claimed to be the president of Bridgeport. The place my sister moved to, the place my older sister ended up.  My head shot up to the screen at the mention of the town. My eyes instantly fell onto a dark purple figure behind him. Ivy.

The man spoke to Jasmine and a man named Dimitri. Over the years, we learned that this man broke my sister out of the facility and now they were no where to be found. The man then said something that peaked my interest even more. He mentioned us, Jasmine’s family. He said he had us, but that was obviously a bluff. I glanced nervously over at my father. Even though his mouth was closed I could tell he was clenching his teeth.

Then the man threatened to kill us if my sister and this man didn’t turn themselves in within the next three months.

Screenshot-5630

“Dad, do you think…” I jumped off the floor in shock. He didn’t answer, he just stared intently at the screen. My mind was racing, they were obviously lying about holding us, but what if they were coming for us? Were they really going to kill us, on national television? My mind was racing with questions, but I didn’t ask any of them in fear of setting off my mother.

Screenshot-5631

“No.” My mom whispered as she too got up. “This can’t be happening, right? This has to be some kind of sick joke.” She was hysterical. I knew better than to try and comfort her, last time she freaked out and accidentally elbowed me in the face.

Nobody said anything as the message ended and the movie returned to their screen.

Screenshot-5633

“Pack a bag, both of you.” My dad demanded in a gruff voice I’ve never heard him use before.

“Where are w-” I started to question him, but he shot me a glare that could kill me.

“Not now Iris. Just pack a bag, I need to make some calls.” He pulled his cellphone out and bounded up the stairs, without a doubt to go pack a bag.

Screenshot-5634

I glanced around the living room. If we were leaving tonight, there was a chance we’d never come back here. I grew up in this house, I’d lived there my entire life. It was a strange feeling, to know that this was the last time you’d be seeing such familiar sights.

But right now was not the time for nostalgia. I snapped out of it, and nudged Mom. The two of us followed my father upstairs to collect some belongings. My stomach sunk as I finally realized who must be behind this all. This was without a doubt all my twin sister’s idea.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 13: The Real Monsters

A/N Sorry this chapter took so long, I’ve been a little uninspired lately. But I was able to upload Ivy and Jasmine to the exchange, and I reuploaded River. You can find the links on the Download a Fae Heir/Heiress page! Thanks for the reads everyone!

Screenshot-5310

The majority of the first few days, I was completely ignored. They’d occasionally give me food or water, but other than that all I did was sit in the corner of the room and watch them. It wasn’t very interesting, whenever they needed to talk about me they’d leave the room. I only ever saw them fiddling with the machines. It was boring, but I knew this wouldn’t last long.

Screenshot-5312

“Aye, Mutt, come on.” The female human scientist called for me. This was exactly what I was afraid of. I was going to be the subject of the experiments today, instead of just samples of my DNA. I gulped as I pulled myself off the floor and headed for the opening in the cage.

I followed her to a strange machine in the corner of the room.

Screenshot-5314

“Sit.” She directed. I obliged, after hearing about Uncle Basil’s experience with scientists, I didn’t want to risk anything. Being tested was painful enough without physical injuries.

I remember sitting through F.R.O. meetings, listening to Uncle Basil tell his stories about his time with the scientists. I always thought he was exaggerating, I never thought anyone could be that cruel. But since I was caught, I knew he wasn’t and I felt awful about doubting him.

Screenshot-5315

I leaned back in the chair and tried to relax. My hands were shaking, I was terrified this was going to hurt. Asking if it would hurt would be a terrible idea, so I kept my mouth shut while the woman pressed buttons on the machine.

Screenshot-5319

She pulled the hood of the machine over my head and almost immediately little bolts of electricity struck me. It was painful, I gripped the arm rests of the chair to keep myself from screaming.

Screenshot-5322

The woman either didn’t notice my pain or chose to ignore it. She just took notes on her clipboard, occasionally glancing at the screen on the machine. I don’t know what happened, but I could feel my body start to go limp. My grip loosened, my arms fell from the rests.

The scientist then pushed a few more buttons of the machine, and it whirled to a stop. She lifted the hood and I tried to pull myself up, but I was weak. The woman grabbed my arm and roughly pulled me off the chair.

Screenshot-5330

She dragged me back over to my cage. She shoved me into the cage, I stumbled slightly but I didn’t fall.

“Don’t get too comfortable, we’re not done with you.” She said, before spinning on her heel and leaving.

Screenshot-5331

I staggered over to my bed and pulled my knees to my chest. I felt dizzy and nauseous. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening to me. Things like this only happened in nightmares.

I cried, I don’t know how long it had been since the woman shocked me with the machine. It could’ve been minutes, or it could’ve been hours. I wasn’t sure, everything was a blur.

Screenshot-5334

That’s when I saw him. An unfamiliar movement from the hallway caught my eye, and I looked up just in time to catch a glimpse. I couldn’t be certain, but I was almost positive the person who walked by was Dimitri. Maybe I wasn’t going to die here after all. I could only hope.

 ———

*Dimitri*

Screenshot-5332

Since I was working in the building that day, I couldn’t help but walk past the room that held Jasmine. I missed her, I wanted her to be back home with me. As I walked past the room, I couldn’t help but glance in there. She was sitting on her bed, her face in her hands. From the few seconds I glanced at her, I could tell she was crying.

Screenshot-5338

I walked to the end of the hallway and sat against the wall. It was one thing to imagine what Jasmine was going through, it was an entirely different thing to actually see it. My chest felt tight and I thought I would vomit. This was my fault. I was the one who got her the job at the club. I was the one who didn’t get her out of there when she was in danger.

This entire thing was my fault. I shouldn’t have even brought her to my house the day she arrived. I should’ve shoved her back into her boat and forced her to go home. Even though I knew it wasn’t safe for her here I let her stay. All because I had a stupid little crush on her. Now my crush was costing her her life.

Screenshot-5340

How could I be so selfish? Now because of me, she was getting tortured and questioned. I couldn’t let this continue anymore. My original plan was to take over for my father and change the laws to make things more Fae friendly. It wouldn’t change things right away, but it would be a start. But it was too late for that. Jasmine would die soon if I didn’t do something, they’d test her to death. I had to act fast.

That’s when I came up with my plan. It was risky, people could die, but I needed to get her out of here. She didn’t deserve this, these people were the real monsters here. They were the ones who should be locked up, who should be killed. I could lose my life too, but it was worth it to save her. After all, it was my fault she was in there. Dying for her safety is the least I could do.

*Ivy*

Screenshot-5342

“Our sources confirmed that the supernatural being caught in Bridgeport is a hybrid. They say it’s half-vampire and half-fairy. We haven’t been able to get any footage, they are keeping it in a high security science facility, only staff are allowed inside. Hopefully there will be more updates on this situation soon. Back to you, Andrew.”

My family had been watching the news, a town called Bridgeport captured someone matching the description of my sister. Ever since she left so many months ago, we haven’t heard anything from her. Apparently she landed in another experiment town, and got herself captured.

Screenshot-5343

My parents were absolutely devastated. Neither of them had wanted her to go on this expedition. But my sister was stubborn, and suicidal, so there was no stopping her.

“Oh River, I-I can’t believe our baby is locked up. I c-can’t even imagine the pain she’s g-going through, a-after what Basil told us.” My mom sobbed into my dad’s shoulder.

“Shh, it might not even be her. There’s no way to know for sure.” My dad tried to comfort her, but I could tell even he didn’t believe what he was saying. We all knew it was Jazz in that science facility.

Screenshot-5347

My twin sister, Iris hadn’t said anything throughout this whole ordeal. She was usually a very bubbly girl, always chatting or texting someone about something. Right now, she was crying. I can’t remember the last time my sister cried. She hadn’t even cried when Jazz left.

Screenshot-5345

I wasn’t crying or questioning the situation. Instead, I was annoyed. Why should we give a crap about what my idiotic sister got herself into? She was the one who left, she was the one who went against what the humans wanted for us.

Ever since I was little, I never understood my family. I never really got why they were so against humans, when all they did was give us shelter. Sure, they were cruel to some of us at one point, but they weren’t anymore. At least not to the people who didn’t try and escape. Things for us could be a lot worse, I don’t think my family realizes that. Here, we can’t get hurt by any other supernatural beings. It’s just us.

The humans knew what was best for us. They were doing this to protect us, if we were still on our own we could’ve been torn apart by wolves or djinn by now. My family never realized how much the humans have helped us. They’ve just been dwelling on the past.

Screenshot-5349

I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t handle my family crying over this idiot. She wasn’t our problem anymore. We should just live our lives, without wanting to break free from the humans. That’s what they want for us, they want us to be happy.

I stormed out of the room, my families sobbing was becoming too much. They didn’t even notice me leave, they were all too wrapped up in their own grief. I didn’t mind, they’ve never really paid much attention to me. I’ve always felt like they didn’t care about me. Maybe that’s why I’ve always been so interested in human culture, because they are the ones who really care about me.

I glared at my parents as I walked past them. I knew one day, I’d be working alongside the humans. I wanted to help them catch people like my parents, people who were looking to rebel, and punish them.

I couldn’t wait until my family got what they deserved.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 5: Mission Impossible

Screenshot-4818

“Thanks for gathering on such short notice.” My parents stood at the front of the room. They called an emergency F.R.O. meeting with just a few board members.

“Let’s jump right in, Hero, would you start us off?” My mom gestured to our old family friend.

Screenshot-4823

“Well, as you all know, my men and I have been working on disarming the trap in the ocean so we can send people out. So far, we’ve only been able to disarm it for a few minutes at most. But yesterday, we were able to disarm it for forty-five minutes.”

“What does this mean?” Iris asked excitedly.

Screenshot-4836

“This mean that we’ll be able to send someone out there.” Grandma explained.

“This is huge.” Grandpa exclaimed.

“Yes, but are we sure we’re ready for this? We don’t know what’s out there. Sending someone out there could be a suicide mission.”

Screenshot-4828

“I’ll do it.” I blurted out. It was perfect, I needed to get out of this place. I also loved F.R.O., so why not volunteer for this?

“Jasmine, we can’t let you do this.” My grandma sounded worried.

“I’m turning eighteen next month, there’s not really anything you can do to stop me.” I gave her a tight smile. I get that she was worried, but I had to make my own decisions.

Screenshot-4830

“Sweetheart, I think you should think about this. This is a huge decision, you should at least take a few days to think it over.” My grandpa suggested.

“No, I’ve made up my mind. I’m volunteering.” I turned to Hero. “What do I have to do and when do I leave?”

He didn’t answer me and looked at my dad.

Screenshot-4841

“Jazzy, I can’t let you do this.” My dad said.

“You can’t really stop me.” I crossed my arms defiantly.

“Look, I can’t let you go on a suicide mission, Jasmine. What kind of father would I be if I let my daughter do something so dangerous?”

Screenshot-4838

“You don’t have to let me, I’m going whether or not you ‘let’ me. This is something I want to do, so I’m gonna do it.”

“This isn’t something you want to do.” My dad shook his head sadly.

“How do you know what I want?”

Screenshot-4842

My dad looked over at my mom. She smiled sadly at him, and nodded slightly.

“Fine, we won’t try and stop you,” She said, “But just think about this, okay?”

“I’ve thought about it, Mom.”

I looked around the room. Everyone was giving me looks of pity. I didn’t deserve their pity. I did something awful, and I needed to be punished for it. Dying slowly and painfully on a boat in the middle of the ocean sounded ideal.

Screenshot-4845

“I don’t need your pity.” I stood up and glared at them, then turned to Hero. “Call me, tell me what I have to do, and I’ll do it.”

I left the room without another word.

——–

Screenshot-4847

“So you’re really gonna do this?” I met up with Venus, Ash and my sisters after they got out of school the next day. I hadn’t been back at school since what happened, and I wasn’t going too. But at least I was actually leaving the house.

“Yea. I leave a few days after my birthday.” Hero and I had talked on the phone, and he gave me all the details. He’d be teaching me how to drive the boat in a few days.

“So, after that I’m never gonna see you again?” She asked sadly. I hated all the sadness surrounding this. I was doing a good thing.

Screenshot-4849

“I guess.”

“Have you told Ash?” I shook my head. “You should probably tell him. How do you think he’s gonna take it?”

“I don’t know, I hope he’ll be happy for me.”

“What? Why would he be happy about this? He’s probably never gonna see you again and you expect him to be happy?”

“Yea, but he’ll understand. We both love F.R.O. and I know he’d do the same thing if he could.”

Screenshot-4848

“Maybe he should go with you.” She suggested.

“No, this is something I have to do on my own.”

She sighed. “I’m really gonna miss you, Jazz.”

“I’m sorry.”

Screenshot-4853

“I hope you come back someday.”

“That doesn’t seem likely. I’ll probably die out there.”

She sighed again, and shook her head. “Whatever. Maybe you should go talk to Ash.”

Screenshot-4854

I could tell she was upset with me. But it didn’t matter, I’d be out of here soon, and it’ll be easier on her if she hates me when I go.

“Yea, good idea.”

Screenshot-4855

I approached him excitedly, I wanted him to think of this as a good thing, like I did.

“Hey babe, guess what.”

“What?”

“I’m going on a mission in about a month!” I smiled widely at him.

Screenshot-4856

He took my hands in his. “Oh my god, that’s amazing! What kind of mission is it?”

“An expeditionary one. They’ve figured out how to disarm the ocean traps long enough for me to get past them, and then I just explore the ocean, hopefully finding an island or another city.” His smile fell.

“Babe, that sounds dangerous.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll be fine. And besides, you and I both know I would die for this organization.”

“I know, I just don’t wanna lose you.” He sighed.

“Hey, we’ve still got a month.”

“Yea, but then what?”

Screenshot-4858

I took him in my arms and kissed him. “Let’s cross that bridge when we get to it, okay?”

“Okay.” He smiled. “I’m proud of you, babe.”

“Thanks. I’m glad, everyone else is trying to talk me out of this.”

“I know better, you’re stubborn and you’re dedicated, there’s no stopping you.”

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.” He grabbed my hand and started pulling me away. “I’m gonna win you something, so you can take it with you on your mission and if you miss me, you can just look at it and remember me.”

“You are such a sap.” I joked.

Screenshot-4860

He led me to the claw machine game. He wasn’t very good at the game, but I cheered him on anyway.

Screenshot-4861

To my surprise, he actually won me something. It was a tiny, plastic little animal. He grabbed it from the little slot and handed it to me.

“So you’ll always remember me.”

“Thanks.” I couldn’t help but smile.

Screenshot-4862

“I promise I’ll keep it with me all the time.”

“Good.”

“I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too.” He said. I gave him a small kiss and left the arcade. It was getting late, and I know he was hurting, and I didn’t want to make it worse.

 ———

Screenshot-4886

One month passed a lot faster than I thought it would. My birthday came and went, and now it was time for me to leave. I went around the other day, saying goodbye to all my friends and family. I didn’t want a lot of people at the beach saying goodbye.

Screenshot-4887

But still, my family showed up to see me off. I went down the line and said goodbye to all of them. First up were my grandparents.

“Oh Jazz, we’re gonna miss you.” My grandpa spoke sadly.

“I’ll miss you guys too.”

“Please, don’t let this be the last time I see you.” Grandma was about to cry, I’ve never seen her cry in my life. It was a weird feeling.

“I’ll try.” I lied. I knew I was gonna die out there, I only had a months worth of food, I doubt I’d be able to find any place before I die.

Screenshot-4888

Next up was Venus. She looked a lot different, her mom got her extensions and a new wardrobe for her eighteenth birthday. It was like I didn’t even know her anymore.

“Be careful, okay?” She said awkwardly. Things between us got weird after I volunteered to do this. I didn’t like leaving on a bad note with her, but I didn’t really have a choice.

“I will.” I lied again, lying to them would make me leaving easier.

Screenshot-4890

My parents were next, and they were the ones I was most worried about.

“I really wish you weren’t doing this.” My father crossed his arms.

“I’m sorry.” I didn’t know what else to say. What do you say when you’re leaving the two people who raised you? After a few seconds of silence, I finally choked out a small “Thank you.”

My father nodded slightly, and I nodded back. There wasn’t anything else to say.

Screenshot-4893

“Why do I have to lose everyone I’ve ever loved?” I heard my mom whisper to my dad, barely audible over the crashing of the waves. I felt my heart break, I hadn’t even thought about how my mom lost her parents and her husband during a mission. She also lost her sister, and now she was about to lose one of her daughters. I swallowed my tears and moved on to my sisters.

“You guys be good, okay?”

“We will, you be good too.” Iris smiled sadly at me. I worried about her, she didn’t have very good judgement. Hell, she was considering dating Sage until I told her that he was Venus’s ex. I just hoped she wouldn’t get into any serious crap after I left.

“I’ll miss you.” Ivy whispered.

“You too kiddo.”

Screenshot-4896

Ash was the last person in line. As soon as I saw him, I couldn’t help but kiss him.

“I love you Jazz.”

“I love you too.”

“Don’t forget me, okay?” He asked, his eyes brimming with tears. I felt horrible for hurting him, but I’d feel even worse if I stayed.

“I could never.”

I kissed him one last time before climbing into my boat.

Screenshot-4898

Screenshot-4901

I sped off into the vast ocean, never looking back.

Jasmine Fae Chapter 3: Red Hot

A/N Sorry for the wait on this chapter, I wish I had a valid excuse but I don’t. I got way too into Supernatural and I’ve been watching it obsessively instead of playing sims. But I managed to pull myself away long enough to get a chapter put together. Thanks for waiting!

Screenshot-4709

Mom and Dad planned a huge party for Ivy and Iris’s birthday. They were turning fourteen, they were gonna be starting high school soon. They were both really excited, they couldn’t wait to be able to do older kid things.

My parents were sad that their youngest kids were getting older, so they decided to throw a huge party with all of the family. When I say all of the family, I mean all of them.

Screenshot-4698

The first ones to arrive were Aunt Fern and Uncle Palm. They had just had a new baby, a little boy named Ficus. The middle child, Periwinkle was becoming a handful, just like Venus. But that didn’t make Venus like him any more.

Screenshot-4700

The second ones to arrive were Aunt Missy and Aunt Amber. They weren’t officially married, they said they didn’t need to. They also didn’t have any children, but they were happy with just the two of them.

Screenshot-4704

The next to arrive was Uncle Dill and Aunt Alyssum. Alyssum was Dill’s third wife, he divorced his first wife before I was born, married his second wife soon after, divorced her a few years later, then married again. Alyssum was Aunt Fern’s half-sister, which made the whole thing a little strange. They weren’t exactly my favorite relatives.

Screenshot-4706

Papa was the next to show up. We didn’t see him often, he was involved in some sketchy stuff but Dad still wanted us to have a relationship with him. He never remarried after his wife left him, but I know he’s been dating around.

Screenshot-4702

Uncle Carrot and Uncle Maple showed up soon after. They were probably the most famous couple in our family. Maple was a famous television actor, and Carrot was a star athlete. Iris looked up to him, she was obsessed with sports and she wanted to be just like him.

Screenshot-4708

Last but certainly not least, my favorite relatives arrived. Grandma and Grandpa were the coolest people I’ve ever met. Grandpa was a rockstar, he still sold out shows every weekend. Grandma had retired from music, but she still drove her motorcycle everywhere. That’s pretty bad-ass for a woman approaching sixty.

Uncle Basil was pretty cool too. He was actually my great-uncle, but it was just easier to call him uncle. He was an author, he wrote about his times with the scientists and how they fixed his hearing. He also still volunteered for experiments, so he could steal our old texts from the scientists.

My cousin Aster was a tough guy. His mom recently died, Aunt Poppy was a drug addict and she overdosed a few months ago. He wasn’t too affected by it, his mom abandoned him when he was a toddler and he’d lived with our grandparents his whole life. He spoke to her probably ten times in his life, but still it had to have been hard on him.

Screenshot-4717

We all had to gather in the backyard, since the house would probably explode if we tried to fit everyone in there. My sister’s were anxious to get into their teens, so we started almost immediately after everyone arrived.

Screenshot-4720

Ivy went first, since she was born first. I also think she wanted to go first so she could get this over with. She hated being outside, and she hated being surrounded by people, so this was pretty much hell for her. But she was excited to be a teenager, so she didn’t complain.

Screenshot-4731

Iris went right after. She was ever more excited than Ivy. High school for her meant sports, and she couldn’t wait.

Screenshot-4736

Even though they were twins, they honestly couldn’t be any different. Ivy was even more shut in now that she was a teen, all she wanted to do was curl up with a book and ignore everyone. Iris on the other hand, only got more social. As soon as she finished her transformation she was texting someone. She was like a little butterfly.

But even though they were polar opposites, they were the best of friends. They were practically inseparable at home, I just hope they can keep that bond throughout high school.

Screenshot-4738

After cake, everyone just started talking and hanging out. It was nice to have all my family together, I don’t think we’ve all been together at once like this.

“Hey babe, having fun?” I asked Ash, the girls let me invite one person, and since Venus was already a relative I decided on Ash. He had to meet my family eventually, why not get it all done in one shot?

“Yea, Your family is awesome! Why didn’t you tell me your uncles are Maple and Carrot Reyna? They’re like the two coolest guys ever.” He told me excitedly. I laughed, I never took him as the kind of person who’d get star-struck.

Screenshot-4739

“It never came up.” I teased. “So, you like my family?”

“Yea, they’re a little nuts but all great families are.” He smiled. He was right, we were pretty nuts.

“My parents seem to like you.” My parents weren’t really strict about boys, so I wasn’t surprised when they told me they really liked him.

Screenshot-4741

“That’s good.” He took my hands in his and smiled at me. “Jazz, I know we’ve only been dating a few weeks, but I feel like we really get each other, and well, I’m in love with you.”

“Wow, that was unexpected.”

“Sorry. Did that make you uncomfortable?”

“No, of course not. I thought you’d be freaked out by my family, I didn’t expect you to like them, and I didn’t expect you to say that you love me after meeting them.” I said with a laugh.

“Oh, good.”

Screenshot-4743

“Oh, and just so you know, I love you too.”

———-

Screenshot-4745

The party lasted for a few hours, but before long it was time for everyone to leave. Me, Iris, Ivy and Ash decided to hang out here for a while, we had nothing better to do for the rest of the day.

We tried to get Venus to hang out with us, but she hasn’t been herself lately. With the abortion, the break up, and her new little brother, she was under a lot of stress. I’m hoping that she’ll bounce back soon, especially after I confront Cherry next week. Maybe after I put her in her place, Venus will feel a little better.

Screenshot-4748

But right now I was gonna talk to my sisters about high-school.

“So guys, you excited for high school? I asked.

“Hell yea.” Iris cheers from the floor.  “I can’t wait to enter tournaments, it’s gonna be awesome!” Since our school was the only one in town, we didn’t have a rival school to play team sports against. So our school did single-person sports, and held tournaments every five weeks.

“Yea, of course you will. You’re more of a sports freak than Uncle Carrot.” I joked. “What about you Ivy?”

Screenshot-4749

“Well, I’m looking forward to the library. I hear they’ve got thousands of books there.” I cocked an eyebrow.

“Is that it?”

“Yea, and I guess I’m excited that I’m finally old enough to start sitting in on F.R.O. meetings.”

“Oh yea, that’s gotta be cool.” Ash said. He knew about F.R.O., but he was too young to join. The only reason we were allowed in the meetings was because our parents ran the entire organization. And because one of us would be taking on the leadership role in a few years.

Screenshot-4752

“I can’t wait until you’re old enough to join, it’s gonna be so awesome.” I scooted closer to him.

“Me either. Maybe one day we could go on a mission together.”

“Mmm, you know I love it when you talk about missions.” I half-moaned, making Iris make a fake puking noise.

“God Jazz, I never expected you to be the love-y type.” She joked. I threw a candy wrapper at her.

“Shut up.” I pouted, and she stuck her tongue out at me.

Maybe now that my sisters are older, we could actually be friends.

———-

Screenshot-4757

“You okay V?” I asked my cousin as we walked into school a few days later. She’d only been back to school a few times since what happened.

“I guess. I just wanna get this over with.”

“Hey, isn’t that your sister?” Ash whispered quietly to me, and pointed over to the corner where Sage’s locker was.

Screenshot-4758

“Holy crap I think it is.” I whispered back. Iris was standing at Sage’s locker, and it looked like she was flirting with him.

“Shit.” He cursed under his breath.

“I’ll deal with that later. I’ve got someone else I’ve gotta deal with right now.” I clenched my fists and made my way over to Cherry.

Screenshot-4761

“Hey Cherry, can you stop sucking face for a second? We need to talk.”

“Go away Mutt, can’t you see I’m busy?” She pulled away from Rye and glared at me.

“I don’t really give a shit.”

Screenshot-4762

“What?” She snapped, and pushed Rye off her. He walked away, and called his little jock friend to follow him.

“What is wrong with you?” I knew this wasn’t going to end well, but I didn’t care.

“What’s wrong with me? Haven’t you looked in the mirror? I’m not the weird Mutt girl.” She sneered.

“Screw you. Why are you always such a bitch to everyone?”

Screenshot-4763

“I’m not a bitch, I’m just giving you what you deserve.”

“I don’t really care what you do to me. You can call me names and whatever the hell you want, but why did you have to do such a terrible thing to Venus?”

“Aw, your cuzzie needs you to stand up for her? That’s so sad.” She laughed, and so did her little side-kick.

Screenshot-4764

“Listen, all I want is two things. One, I want you to leave Venus alone. Two, I wanna know why you torment me so much. I haven’t done anything wrong, and there’s no reason you should be messing with me at all.”

“You are the reason, you filthy little mutt.” I could feel my blood start to boil. She was really pissing me off.

“All I want is an explanation, then you can continue to give me all the shit you want.” I was pushing her, because I knew there had to be a reason for her to be doing this.

“I already told you. God, is your little hybrid brain that tiny?”

I don’t know what happened. I felt a huge rush of something over my body, it felt like a electrical shock, but like in a wave.

Screenshot-4765

All I saw was red and Cherry’s snobby little face cowering against a locker. I had my arm pinned against her neck, I don’t remember how it got there though.

“Tell me.” A voice growled. It sounded so savage and barbaric, but I soon realized it was my voice.

That snapped me out of it. I took a step back, removing my arm from her neck. She fell to the floor, and the red light vanished.

“Oh my god, Cherry.” I was freaking out. I was terrified I might’ve hurt her.

I held my hand out to help her off the floor. She pulled herself up, ignoring my hand.

Screenshot-4771

She stood in front of me with a blank expression on her face.

“I’m so sorry, are you okay?” I asked, but she ignored me.

“There is a reason I tease you.” She admitted, but her voice sounded monotonous, and I realized what I had done. My mom had told me about it when she was teaching me about fairy powers. I had put her into a truth trance.

“My mother had an affair with a fairy when I was six.” I was wracking my brain, trying to remember how to stop this. A crowd had gathered around us, and I had a feeling this wasn’t something she wanted people to know.

“She got pregnant, even though she was so careful. She tried to play it off as my father’s baby. But her plan was ruined when the baby came out with sparkles. But on closer inspection, they realized the little boy was also a vampire.”

I was shocked, I thought I was the only hybrid to ever exist. As soon as she said that, everyone started to whisper.

Screenshot-4773

Despite my best efforts to reverse the trance, Cherry was still talking.

“They decided not to let anyone know, and tell them the baby was a still born. They took the baby deep into the forest, and threw him into the electric field that surrounds the Valley. They couldn’t stand the thought of being outcasts. I torment you, because I’m jealous of you. I’m angry that you got to live, and my little brother didn’t.”

Everyone silenced. No one knew what to say.

Cherry broke out of her trance soon after she finished. I’ll never forget the way she looked at me. Her expression was filled with terror and sadness. She ran off crying after realized everyone was staring at her.

I couldn’t believe what I had done.

River Fae Chapter 21: Finale

Screenshot-4151

The years were flying by so fast it was hard to register everything that was happening. Jasmine had started school, Ivy and Iris were both walking and talking, and Drea had become the principal of the school. But that’s only scratching the surface.

As the girls grew, so did their personalities. All three girls were so different, it was hard to believe they were sisters.

Screenshot-4165

Jasmine was a very independent little girl. Even though her sisters were older now, she chose to play by herself. Or maybe the twins chose to play with just each other. I’m not entirely sure what happened there, but either way Jasmine played by herself. Sometimes Venus would come over to play, but she was getting older and didn’t want to play as much anymore.

Screenshot-4169

I felt bad for her, I knew she was having a hard time in school, but she refused to talk to me about it. I wanted to help her, I would do anything for any of my girls, but if she didn’t come to me and tell me she needed help there wasn’t much I could do. Drea and I didn’t want to force it out of her, we both knew that would drive her away. We didn’t want that, we wanted our kids to feel like they could come to us for anything.

The teasing probably centered around her mixed status. So far, she was the only hybrid we knew of, so of course that made her an easy target for bullying. Drea and I worried about her status, we weren’t sure what powers she possessed. We’ve heard of young supernaturals having magical outbursts, and we feared that would happen with her. If she got pushed to the edge, there’s no telling what her powers could do.

Screenshot-4202

Despite her trouble with the kids in school, Jazzy had great grades. She always did her homework before going outside to play. But that didn’t mean she didn’t need homework help every once in a while. Drea and I both sucked at math, but lucky for us Aster was a math whiz. He’d always come over and help her with her homework whenever we asked.

Screenshot-4156

As for the twins, they weren’t as easy to deal with as Jazzy. Having twins is a lot harder than having one child. When one cries, the other one cries too. When one is hungry, the other needs a change. It’s difficult, especially during the day when Hydrangea is at work.

Screenshot-4172

But they weren’t just twins. Each girl had a personality of her own, and they were vastly different from each others. Iris was loud and stubborn, but she was also very interested in her reflection. Her favorite thing to do was sit in front of the mirror and cry.

Screenshot-4195

And boy, could she cry. Iris had a strong set of lungs in her, that’s for sure. She could wail so loud it woke up the neighbors. A lot of the time we didn’t know why she was crying, she’d just cry for no reason whenever she felt like it.

Screenshot-4200

Ivy was the exact opposite. She didn’t cry, and we had trouble teaching her to talk. But we soon found out that she could talk, she just chose not to.

Screenshot-4182

Ivy had no problem learning her other skills. She had no trouble walking, and potty training was a breeze with her. Drea and I came to the conclusion that our daughter might just be shy. She didn’t like seeing people outside of her immediate family, while Iris always ran to anyone who entered the house.

Screenshot-4255

Despite her shyness, Ivy had a very kind heart. She always tried to comfort Iris when she cried, but Iris would never let her. She also would try to comfort Jazzy when she was upset, but Jazzy refused to even admit she was upset. It was a little discouraging to Ivy, but she still tried to comfort those around her. I knew she was going to grow up to be a very kind young woman.

Screenshot-4180

The five of us were doing great. My life was as perfect as it could possibly be.

But of course when you least expect it, your past comes back to haunt you.

I found out about it through the news channel. I didn’t know how to respond when I saw her face on the TV screen again.

Clover Lyn had died in prison. She had overdosed on some pills someone snuck into the prison.

I didn’t know how to feel. I hated her for years after what she did. I knew I could never forgive her, but I knew someone who would be torn up over this.

Screenshot-4217

I knew him well enough to know where he’d be.

“Hey Hero, you okay?” I asked, he looked up at me and shook his head.

Screenshot-4221

“Why are you here? After what she did to you and your friends?” His voice was hoarse, it was obvious he’d been crying for a while.

“I’m not here for her. I had a feeling you’d be here, and I wanted to see how you were doing.”

“You’re a good kid, River.”

“Thanks. Are you okay? Do you need anything?”

Screenshot-4224

“No. I’m good, thanks though. I accepted that my little girl’s gone a long time ago. It’s just, now that she really is, it’s a lot harder than I imagined.”

I tried to put myself in his shoes. How would I react if one of my daughters murdered multiple people? I would never stop loving my daughters, no matter what. But it must be hard to love someone when they do something like she did.

Screenshot-4230

“If you do ever need anything, Drea and I will always be here for you, okay?”

“You have a good heart, kid. I should get out of here, it’s not healthy for me to spend so much time here. I’ll see you around.” He patted me on the shoulder and left the cemetery.

Screenshot-4233

After Hero left, I stayed and just stared at her headstone. Part of my was still furious with her, that part of me was glad she had passed. But the other part of me felt sorry for her. She wasn’t well when she did what she did. I knew I couldn’t blame her for what she did.

Another part of me always worried she would break out of prison and come find me. It was a small part, but still a part. I was terrified she would take Drea from me too. But now I didn’t have to worry about that anymore.

Screenshot-4235

It felt wrong, for me to be relieved that someone was dead. Even if that person did horrible things. Was I wrong to feel relieved? I’m not sure, but there was one thing I was sure of.

I wouldn’t be coming back to the cemetery any time soon.

And that’s a wrap!

This generation has been a roller-coaster, for me and for River. I’ve really enjoyed writing his story, and I’m a little sad that it’s over. But, I’m ready to start the next generation. I’m really excited about generation 3, it’s gonna be awesome. I’ll put the heir vote up soon, I can’t wait to see who you choose to take on the Fae family legacy!

River Fae Chapter 20: Yay!

During my lunch hour, I went back to the doctors office. I was getting the test results back today and I was nervous. I know River wanted another baby, and I would hate to disappoint him.

I was trying to steady my nervous breathing when the nurse called out my name.

Screenshot-4001

“The doctor will see you now.” She said without looking up from the screen.

I made my way into the back office and took a seat on the examination table.

Screenshot-4005

Dr. Brink was already seated in the office. “Hello Mrs. Fae, how are you today?”

“Scared. Nervous. The works.” I said.

“I can imagine. Is your husband here?”

“No, he’s at home with our daughter.”

“Oh, well then I guess you’ll just have to explain this to him.”

“Explain what to him?”

Screenshot-4007

“Well, you’re fallopian tubes are damaged, they’re blocked so no eggs can come out and no sperm can come in.” She explained.

“How did that happen?”

“We aren’t sure. We don’t have very advanced medicine here, but there is something we could do.”

Screenshot-4009

“What is it?”

“We can extract some eggs from your ovary and fertilize them outside of the womb, then we can transfer the embryos back into you.”

“Will it work?”

“Most likely.”

“When can we get started?” I was a little nervous, but at least I still had a chance at having another baby.

“As soon as you want, we don’t have many patients around this part of the hospital.”

“I’ll bring my husband by later then.”

*A couple weeks later*

Screenshot-4015

I was back in the doctors office waiting room with Jazzy, waiting for Drea’s procedure to be done. She was getting an embryo transfer today. I wasn’t entirely comfortable with the whole lab-baby thing, but if that was the only thing that would work, I’d suck it up and do it. I had to give a… sample… which was highly uncomfortable. But it was about to be over, and Drea and I would be having another baby.

Screenshot-4020

“Hey.” Drea’s voice pulled me away from my book. I jumped up and ran towards her.

Screenshot-4025

“How’d it go?” I wrapped my arms around her tightly.

“It went okay. We’ll find out if they attached in a few weeks.” She hugged me back even tighter.

“Now we wait?”

“Now we wait.”

Screenshot-4027

“No matter what happens, I love you, okay? It doesn’t matter if we have another baby or not, that won’t change how much I care about you.”

“God River, you are amazing.”

“I really mean it, Drea.”

It wasn’t long before Drea started to get morning sickness. She wasn’t too upset though, we both knew this meant she was pregnant. To say we were excited was an understatement. We were ecstatic. The new baby was our second main topic of discussion, next to Jasmine and her antics.

Screenshot-4036

She did take a pregnancy test, just to be sure it was actually happening. When the test came out positive, I don’t think either of us have ever been so excited. We were finally having another baby.

This pregnancy went a lot faster than the first. Her stomach was also growing rapidly, I didn’t remember it going to quickly with Jazzy.

As the months went on, Drea was spending more and more time with Jazzy. She wanted to make sure Jazzy knew she was loved, so she wouldn’t get too upset when the new baby arrived.

I snuck into the nursery one morning when Drea was getting Jazzy up for the day.

“Hey pumpkin, are you excited for your little sibling?” She cooed.

“Ya mama.” Jazzy giggled and grabbed her mother’s face. “When will dey be here?”

“Soon, I promise.”

Screenshot-4041

“Mama is it a boy or a girl?”

“Can I tell you a secret? You can’t tell daddy, okay?” Drea whispered to Jazzy.

“I won’t.” She whispered back.

“Now we’re keeping secrets from Daddy?” I asked, making both of them gasp.

“Nope.” Drea laughed and put Jasmine down to go play.

“It sounded like it.” I closed the space between us and wrapped my arms around her.

Screenshot-4044

“What is this secret we’re keeping from daddy?”

“Well, I got an ultrasound yesterday.”

“Really? Do you know the gender?” I asked excitedly.

“I know the genders.”

“Genders? As in multiple?” I asked nervously.

“Yup. We’re having twin girls.”

Screenshot-4049

“Really? Twins? This is amazing Drea.” I laid my hand on her stomach and she nodded. I was excited, first we couldn’t have another kid and now we were having two.  “Well it looks like we’ll be getting two cribs today instead of just one.”

“Yea. Do you think it’ll be too cramped in here?”

“Nah. The room is big enough for the three of them.”

Screenshot-4065

We went out to the baby furniture store later on that day and picked up two more cribs. The room was a little cramped, but it wasn’t too bad. It made the room feel complete.

I thought we still had time before the twins came, Drea’s due date wasnt for another few weeks. But of course, timing wasn’t always a friend of mine.

Screenshot-4070

“River, River wake up.” Drea’s strained voice shook me out of my sleep.

“Babe, what’s wrong?” I asked, rubbing my eyes.

“I think it’s time.” She said while climbing out of bed.

Screenshot-4071

“Oh yea,” She clutched her stomach, “It’s definitely time.”

Screenshot-4072

I hate to admit it, but I panicked.

———

Screenshot-4111

Despite my panicking, Drea and I brought two beautiful girls home the next day.

Screenshot-4074

The first twin born was Ivy. She was given one of the names Drea initially came up with when we were discussing names for Jasmine. She had tufts of blue hair, the same shade as Tulip’s. It made me a little sad, but I was also kinda glad that a little piece of her was living on in my daughter. Ivy was born with dark, purple skin, a few shades darker than my fathers. Ivy was a fairy, and only a fairy. She was absolutely perfect.

Screenshot-4073

The other twin born was named Iris, after Drea’s mother. She had Drea’s hair and the same skin shade as mine. She was also born with only one occult state, except she was a vampire like me.

Both girls were completely perfect. Our little family was finally complete.

Screenshot-4078

“Daddy, what’s dis?” Jazzy asked as soon as she noticed her new sisters.

“They’re your new sisters. That’s Iris.” I explained.

“Iwis?” She asked, and I nodded.

Screenshot-4082

“Can I pway wit dem?”

“Not yet, they’re still too little.”

“Oh.” She said sadly, making my heart break for her.

“Hey, I can play with you if you’d like.” I offered, and her face lit up like a Christmas tree.

“Yay!”

Screenshot-4084

“Daddy, why are dey so small?” She asked as soon as we sat down in front of her block toy.

“They’re very young, you were once that size too.” I said, and she gasped.

“I was?”

“Yup. And soon, they’ll be as big as you are now!”

Screenshot-4090

“Den we can pway togeter?”

“Yea, then you can play together.” I laughed as she clapped excitedly.

“Yay!”
