Jasmine Fae Chapter 3: Red Hot

A/N Sorry for the wait on this chapter, I wish I had a valid excuse but I don’t. I got way too into Supernatural and I’ve been watching it obsessively instead of playing sims. But I managed to pull myself away long enough to get a chapter put together. Thanks for waiting!

Screenshot-4709

Mom and Dad planned a huge party for Ivy and Iris’s birthday. They were turning fourteen, they were gonna be starting high school soon. They were both really excited, they couldn’t wait to be able to do older kid things.

My parents were sad that their youngest kids were getting older, so they decided to throw a huge party with all of the family. When I say all of the family, I mean all of them.

Screenshot-4698

The first ones to arrive were Aunt Fern and Uncle Palm. They had just had a new baby, a little boy named Ficus. The middle child, Periwinkle was becoming a handful, just like Venus. But that didn’t make Venus like him any more.

Screenshot-4700

The second ones to arrive were Aunt Missy and Aunt Amber. They weren’t officially married, they said they didn’t need to. They also didn’t have any children, but they were happy with just the two of them.

Screenshot-4704

The next to arrive was Uncle Dill and Aunt Alyssum. Alyssum was Dill’s third wife, he divorced his first wife before I was born, married his second wife soon after, divorced her a few years later, then married again. Alyssum was Aunt Fern’s half-sister, which made the whole thing a little strange. They weren’t exactly my favorite relatives.

Screenshot-4706

Papa was the next to show up. We didn’t see him often, he was involved in some sketchy stuff but Dad still wanted us to have a relationship with him. He never remarried after his wife left him, but I know he’s been dating around.

Screenshot-4702

Uncle Carrot and Uncle Maple showed up soon after. They were probably the most famous couple in our family. Maple was a famous television actor, and Carrot was a star athlete. Iris looked up to him, she was obsessed with sports and she wanted to be just like him.

Screenshot-4708

Last but certainly not least, my favorite relatives arrived. Grandma and Grandpa were the coolest people I’ve ever met. Grandpa was a rockstar, he still sold out shows every weekend. Grandma had retired from music, but she still drove her motorcycle everywhere. That’s pretty bad-ass for a woman approaching sixty.

Uncle Basil was pretty cool too. He was actually my great-uncle, but it was just easier to call him uncle. He was an author, he wrote about his times with the scientists and how they fixed his hearing. He also still volunteered for experiments, so he could steal our old texts from the scientists.

My cousin Aster was a tough guy. His mom recently died, Aunt Poppy was a drug addict and she overdosed a few months ago. He wasn’t too affected by it, his mom abandoned him when he was a toddler and he’d lived with our grandparents his whole life. He spoke to her probably ten times in his life, but still it had to have been hard on him.

Screenshot-4717

We all had to gather in the backyard, since the house would probably explode if we tried to fit everyone in there. My sister’s were anxious to get into their teens, so we started almost immediately after everyone arrived.

Screenshot-4720

Ivy went first, since she was born first. I also think she wanted to go first so she could get this over with. She hated being outside, and she hated being surrounded by people, so this was pretty much hell for her. But she was excited to be a teenager, so she didn’t complain.

Screenshot-4731

Iris went right after. She was ever more excited than Ivy. High school for her meant sports, and she couldn’t wait.

Screenshot-4736

Even though they were twins, they honestly couldn’t be any different. Ivy was even more shut in now that she was a teen, all she wanted to do was curl up with a book and ignore everyone. Iris on the other hand, only got more social. As soon as she finished her transformation she was texting someone. She was like a little butterfly.

But even though they were polar opposites, they were the best of friends. They were practically inseparable at home, I just hope they can keep that bond throughout high school.

Screenshot-4738

After cake, everyone just started talking and hanging out. It was nice to have all my family together, I don’t think we’ve all been together at once like this.

“Hey babe, having fun?” I asked Ash, the girls let me invite one person, and since Venus was already a relative I decided on Ash. He had to meet my family eventually, why not get it all done in one shot?

“Yea, Your family is awesome! Why didn’t you tell me your uncles are Maple and Carrot Reyna? They’re like the two coolest guys ever.” He told me excitedly. I laughed, I never took him as the kind of person who’d get star-struck.

Screenshot-4739

“It never came up.” I teased. “So, you like my family?”

“Yea, they’re a little nuts but all great families are.” He smiled. He was right, we were pretty nuts.

“My parents seem to like you.” My parents weren’t really strict about boys, so I wasn’t surprised when they told me they really liked him.

Screenshot-4741

“That’s good.” He took my hands in his and smiled at me. “Jazz, I know we’ve only been dating a few weeks, but I feel like we really get each other, and well, I’m in love with you.”

“Wow, that was unexpected.”

“Sorry. Did that make you uncomfortable?”

“No, of course not. I thought you’d be freaked out by my family, I didn’t expect you to like them, and I didn’t expect you to say that you love me after meeting them.” I said with a laugh.

“Oh, good.”

Screenshot-4743

“Oh, and just so you know, I love you too.”

———-

Screenshot-4745

The party lasted for a few hours, but before long it was time for everyone to leave. Me, Iris, Ivy and Ash decided to hang out here for a while, we had nothing better to do for the rest of the day.

We tried to get Venus to hang out with us, but she hasn’t been herself lately. With the abortion, the break up, and her new little brother, she was under a lot of stress. I’m hoping that she’ll bounce back soon, especially after I confront Cherry next week. Maybe after I put her in her place, Venus will feel a little better.

Screenshot-4748

But right now I was gonna talk to my sisters about high-school.

“So guys, you excited for high school? I asked.

“Hell yea.” Iris cheers from the floor.  “I can’t wait to enter tournaments, it’s gonna be awesome!” Since our school was the only one in town, we didn’t have a rival school to play team sports against. So our school did single-person sports, and held tournaments every five weeks.

“Yea, of course you will. You’re more of a sports freak than Uncle Carrot.” I joked. “What about you Ivy?”

Screenshot-4749

“Well, I’m looking forward to the library. I hear they’ve got thousands of books there.” I cocked an eyebrow.

“Is that it?”

“Yea, and I guess I’m excited that I’m finally old enough to start sitting in on F.R.O. meetings.”

“Oh yea, that’s gotta be cool.” Ash said. He knew about F.R.O., but he was too young to join. The only reason we were allowed in the meetings was because our parents ran the entire organization. And because one of us would be taking on the leadership role in a few years.

Screenshot-4752

“I can’t wait until you’re old enough to join, it’s gonna be so awesome.” I scooted closer to him.

“Me either. Maybe one day we could go on a mission together.”

“Mmm, you know I love it when you talk about missions.” I half-moaned, making Iris make a fake puking noise.

“God Jazz, I never expected you to be the love-y type.” She joked. I threw a candy wrapper at her.

“Shut up.” I pouted, and she stuck her tongue out at me.

Maybe now that my sisters are older, we could actually be friends.

———-

Screenshot-4757

“You okay V?” I asked my cousin as we walked into school a few days later. She’d only been back to school a few times since what happened.

“I guess. I just wanna get this over with.”

“Hey, isn’t that your sister?” Ash whispered quietly to me, and pointed over to the corner where Sage’s locker was.

Screenshot-4758

“Holy crap I think it is.” I whispered back. Iris was standing at Sage’s locker, and it looked like she was flirting with him.

“Shit.” He cursed under his breath.

“I’ll deal with that later. I’ve got someone else I’ve gotta deal with right now.” I clenched my fists and made my way over to Cherry.

Screenshot-4761

“Hey Cherry, can you stop sucking face for a second? We need to talk.”

“Go away Mutt, can’t you see I’m busy?” She pulled away from Rye and glared at me.

“I don’t really give a shit.”

Screenshot-4762

“What?” She snapped, and pushed Rye off her. He walked away, and called his little jock friend to follow him.

“What is wrong with you?” I knew this wasn’t going to end well, but I didn’t care.

“What’s wrong with me? Haven’t you looked in the mirror? I’m not the weird Mutt girl.” She sneered.

“Screw you. Why are you always such a bitch to everyone?”

Screenshot-4763

“I’m not a bitch, I’m just giving you what you deserve.”

“I don’t really care what you do to me. You can call me names and whatever the hell you want, but why did you have to do such a terrible thing to Venus?”

“Aw, your cuzzie needs you to stand up for her? That’s so sad.” She laughed, and so did her little side-kick.

Screenshot-4764

“Listen, all I want is two things. One, I want you to leave Venus alone. Two, I wanna know why you torment me so much. I haven’t done anything wrong, and there’s no reason you should be messing with me at all.”

“You are the reason, you filthy little mutt.” I could feel my blood start to boil. She was really pissing me off.

“All I want is an explanation, then you can continue to give me all the shit you want.” I was pushing her, because I knew there had to be a reason for her to be doing this.

“I already told you. God, is your little hybrid brain that tiny?”

I don’t know what happened. I felt a huge rush of something over my body, it felt like a electrical shock, but like in a wave.

Screenshot-4765

All I saw was red and Cherry’s snobby little face cowering against a locker. I had my arm pinned against her neck, I don’t remember how it got there though.

“Tell me.” A voice growled. It sounded so savage and barbaric, but I soon realized it was my voice.

That snapped me out of it. I took a step back, removing my arm from her neck. She fell to the floor, and the red light vanished.

“Oh my god, Cherry.” I was freaking out. I was terrified I might’ve hurt her.

I held my hand out to help her off the floor. She pulled herself up, ignoring my hand.

Screenshot-4771

She stood in front of me with a blank expression on her face.

“I’m so sorry, are you okay?” I asked, but she ignored me.

“There is a reason I tease you.” She admitted, but her voice sounded monotonous, and I realized what I had done. My mom had told me about it when she was teaching me about fairy powers. I had put her into a truth trance.

“My mother had an affair with a fairy when I was six.” I was wracking my brain, trying to remember how to stop this. A crowd had gathered around us, and I had a feeling this wasn’t something she wanted people to know.

“She got pregnant, even though she was so careful. She tried to play it off as my father’s baby. But her plan was ruined when the baby came out with sparkles. But on closer inspection, they realized the little boy was also a vampire.”

I was shocked, I thought I was the only hybrid to ever exist. As soon as she said that, everyone started to whisper.

Screenshot-4773

Despite my best efforts to reverse the trance, Cherry was still talking.

“They decided not to let anyone know, and tell them the baby was a still born. They took the baby deep into the forest, and threw him into the electric field that surrounds the Valley. They couldn’t stand the thought of being outcasts. I torment you, because I’m jealous of you. I’m angry that you got to live, and my little brother didn’t.”

Everyone silenced. No one knew what to say.

Cherry broke out of her trance soon after she finished. I’ll never forget the way she looked at me. Her expression was filled with terror and sadness. She ran off crying after realized everyone was staring at her.

I couldn’t believe what I had done.

River Fae Chapter 6: Nice to See You

Screenshot-2600

This case became my top priority, even after what happened last night. Right now my main priority was finding Gardenia and getting her home safely.

Besides, we were both exhausted last night. Neither of us knew what we were doing, so it probably meant nothing. Everything I said last night wasn’t thought through well. I did love Clover, I guess we were just growing apart. But I think I know how to fix it.

Screenshot-2602

“You texted me, what’s up?” Clover came into my room and leaned against my dresser.

“I did. I’m ready, Babe.” I told her, and moved all my stuff off the bed and onto the floor.

“W-what do you mean?” She cocked an eyebrow at me.

“I think you know exactly what I mean.” I smirked and jumped off my bed. I wanted to prove to her that I loved her, and maybe this would help us get closer.

“Babe are you sure?”

Screenshot-2603

“I’m sure that I love you.” I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her. It wasn’t entirely truthful yet, but I’m sure it will be once the deed is done. I mean, everyone says sex brings you closer, right?

“I love you too.” She beamed, she’s been asking for this for a while now. I picked her up and carried her over to the side of my bed.

Screenshot-2606

“Babe, are you really sure?” She asked me again. I responded by kissing her chest, up to her neck, then finally stopping at her lips.

“Positive.”

Screenshot-2607

“I love you, Clover.”

“I love you too, River.”

And well, you can guess what happened next.

Screenshot-2610

“Wow. That was amazing.” Clover curled up next to me later on. I grunted in response, earning myself a soft kick to the shin.

Honestly, I thought all my problems were gonna be solved by doing that with her. But it didn’t. At all. It made things worse, actually. I did love Clover. But I don’t love her in the way I thought I did. I didn’t love her like I was supposed to.

“We should do that more often.” She giggled. I nodded and kissed her forehead.

I knew I needed to break up with her, but we were living in the same house for a year, it’d be impossible to avoid her. Also her mood swings, I can barely handle it when I’m with her, how would she react if I tried to leave her.

I was in a very sticky situation.

——-

Screenshot-2636

“All she’s gonna do is ask you some questions, then we can go home, okay?” I led Clover out to the truck, I was taking her to meet with Detective Blu so she could get questioned.

“Okay. It won’t take too long, right?” She groaned.

“Don’t think so.” I held the car door open for her and we drove off.

Screenshot-2638

“Hey Fern.” I greeted my half-sister when we entered the headquarters. There was no one else there, as usual.

“You can just go right in.” Fern directed, never looking up from her typing.

“I’ll try to wait for you, but I’m meeting with a client soon and I might have to leave. But if I do, Fern said she can give you a ride home.” I told Clover, and gave her hand a little squeeze.

Screenshot-2642

“I’ll see you later, love.” She walked out of the room and into Detective Blu’s office.

Screenshot-2645

I brought a random book from Clover’s collection with me, I didn’t know how long I’d be waiting out here for. Detective Blu suspected Clover was involved in the disappearance of Gardenia.  I was slightly offended she would even think of such things, but I guess she did have her reasons. But still, Clover couldn’t even hurt a fly, let alone a grown woman.

Screenshot-2654

“You’ve got a lot on you’re mind.” Fern startled me, I hadn’t even realized she was next to me. I had been here for quite some time now, and I was getting really into this book.

“How did you know that?”

“I know a lot of things, dear brother. Now, what’s bothering you?” I didn’t want to talk about this, not with Clover in the building.

“Gardenia is missing, that’s what’s bothering me.” That was the main thing, so it wasn’t really a lie.

Screenshot-2662

“You and I both know that’s not what I’m asking.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Fine, I can tell you don’t wanna talk about it. But I’m still gonna give you advice. Remember what I said to you that night we first met. I really mean it, River.” She sighed, and I tried to remember what she told me that night.

‘Be careful with Clover.’

I remember her saying that, and I thought about it a lot for the first few months afterwords. It still gave me the chills, how could she have known we were dating when we were so careful? It didn’t make sense then, and it still didn’t make much sense now.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Everything is fine.”

Screenshot-2652

“Whatever you say.” She giggled. Her cell phone buzzed, and she gasped. “Oh gosh, it’s already five, don’t you have a client?”

“I do. Thanks for reminding me. You can drive her home, right?”

“Of course. Good luck brother, with everything.” She chuckled.

I grabbed my book and my keys and left the headquarters thinking about everything but my job.

——-

Screenshot-2701

“Hey Kiddo, come on in.” My uncle ushered Clover and I inside my parents house. I decided to stop by and see them, I was really stressed and seeing them might do me some good.

Screenshot-2703

“Hey Mom.” I came in and she jumped off the floor and attacked me.

“Oh River sweetie its so great to see you.” She said. Clover took a seat next to Dad and they started to chat.

“Oh, who’s this?” I asked, noticing the toddler playing on the floor.

“River, this is Aster. He’s your nephew.”

“Oh Dill had a kid? Why didn’t he tell me I mean I know he’s busy but-” I started to say but my mom shook her head.

“No, this is Poppy’s son.”

“Oh.”

Screenshot-2706

“Well hey there little guy.” I took a seat on the floor in front of his toy box. He ignored me and tried to shove the cylinder block in the triangle slot.

“Hey, I think it goes in this one.” I offered, and he gave me a death glare. I didn’t even know babies could give death glares.

I glanced at my mom and she shrugged. “He’s a little hostile.”

“He gets that from his Mom.” Dad joked, making us all laugh.

Screenshot-2712

“Ugh, I thought I heard your voice.” My little sister came out from the bathroom with a scowl on her face.

“Nice to see you too, Poppy.” I smirked, making her even angrier.

Screenshot-2717

“I’m too hungover for your shit today. I’m going to bed, don’t piss off my son.” My mom sighed, making Poppy roll her eyes.

Poppy stomped up the stairs and slammed her door.

Screenshot-2708

“She’s been going out every night, getting piss drunk. Dad and I are getting tired of it, so we’ve given her an ultimatum. She has one more month to get sober or we’re kicking her out and taking custody of Aster.”

“Are you guys sure you want to raise another kid? I mean you’ve already had four. What about his father?”

“He’s worse than she is. That’s how they met, both got piss drunk and ended up sleeping together. She’s dating some other loser right now and his father doesn’t wanna be in his life. I can’t understand why, he’s adorable.” She smiled sadly and pet his head softly.

“Oh. Well I hope it works out.”

“Thanks kiddo. How are you? How’s work?” Mom and I didn’t talk often, but she did know I was working on the missing person case.

“It’s going okay. We don’t have any new leads as far as I know.” I said, and Aster threw his block down on the carpet angrily and started to cry. “Oh god, did I do something?”

“Of course not, he’s just hungry.” She picked him up off the floor and gestured for me to stand too.

Screenshot-2724

“Oh sweetheart, I hope everything works out. I’ve been following this on the news, it’s so strange, how someone can just disappear.”

“Yea, it is pretty weird.”

Screenshot-2725

“Have you tried talking to her spirit?”

“I have, either she’s not dead or she’s hiding until the body is found. I’m hoping for the former.”

“I think we all are. Have you spoken to Flora?” She asked, and Aster started to get fussy again.

Screenshot-2732

“Hold on sweetie, Gamma’s gonna get you a bottle in a sec.” She tickled the baby, making him scream with delight. “Anyway, have you?”

“I have, but she couldn’t give me anything useful.” I had to lie a little, I wasn’t supposed to give out a lot of details.

“Yea, they usually can’t.” She rolled her eyes “Darn spirits. It’d make life so much easier.” We both laughed, but stopped when my phone started to ring.

“I gotta get this.” I gestured to my phone. She nodded and headed to the kitchen to get Aster something to eat.

Screenshot-2738

I barely got a ‘hello’ out of my mouth before she started to speak. “River Fae, it’s Detective Blu, we’ve found Gardenia.”

Primrose Fae Chapter 14: Finale

Screenshot-1886

Hero and I were spending the afternoon with Chrissy. Our kids were getting older, as were we, and we didn’t want her to think we forgot about her. So once a month we would stop by and just hang out for a few hours.

“Do you think she’s proud of me?” He wondered aloud.

“Of course, you’ve done a great job with Clover.” I fiddled with a blade of grass and stared up at the sky. I wondered the same thing, I really hoped my best friend was proud of me.

“I bet she’s proud of you too, Prim.” He said, as if he knew exactly what I was thinking. He probably did, he was great at reading people. I sighed. Even though my life didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted, it was a pretty damn good life if I do say so myself.

“What do you think she’d be doing right now, if she were here?” I asked. We talked about this a lot when we came here, envisioning her here helped us keep her memory fresh.

“Well, I bet she’d be hanging out with Clover. Probably doing their nails or something girly like that.” We laughed, when Clover was younger she would make him do her nails. I knew it made him sad, but he did it anyway. He was a really great father.

“Yea I bet. She’d probably have Poppy with her too. She’d probably have better luck with her, Her and I are too similar to get along. Chris always kept me grounded, and I bet she could’ve done the same with Poppy.”

“I think you’re doing a great job. So Poppy is a little out of control. She’ll get over it soon.” He chuckled.

“Yea easy for you to say, your daughter hasn’t caused any trouble in her life!”

“She will eventually. Every kid does something stupid at least once.” He didn’t sound worried at all. Unlike me, parenting didn’t scare him. I’m still afraid I’ll screw up. But not him, he’s pretty much fearless when it comes to kids.

“Y’know, out of all the guys here Chrissy could have picked, I’m so glad she chose you.” It was true, there were so many asshole guys here, believe me I’ve had my fair share of them, and few actually decent guys. Hero was one of those decent guys, and I was glad he married my best friend and raised her daughter.

“God damn Primrose, you’re making me cry.” We laughed and he threw grass at me. “But thanks. I still love her more and more everyday.”

“Me too.”

We laid in silence for a while, just watching the clouds and playing with the grass.

“Hey Prim, we should get going, Clover needs me to drive her to her creative writing class and I can’t be late again.” He broke the silence a little while later and pulled himself off the ground.

“Oh yea, of course.” I jumped up and dusted the grass off my dress.

Screenshot-1890

Before I could walk away Hero wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me to his side.

“I miss her.” He sighed.

“Me too.”

“I wonder if she missed us too.”

“I bet she does.” I smiled at him, and he kissed my temple softly.

“Thanks Prim, you’re the best friend Chrissy and I could’ve ever asked for.”

Screenshot-1888

I hugged him as tight as I could. “C’mon, lets get Clover to her writing class.” I pulled back from the hug and noticed he was crying. I wiped the tears off of his face and smiled. We didn’t say anything else as we left the cemetery.

——

Screenshot-1896

“Oh come on Poppy, can’t you do better than that?” We all sat in the living room, Jeremy and I on the floor, Poppy and River playing a round of video games. We didn’t have much family time these days, ever since the older two moved out and Poppy got into high school, they’ve all been pretty busy. But tonight was one of those rare nights where everyone was home.

“I’m letting you win, wimp.” She laughed and he glared at her. They didn’t get along often, and when they did, they were usually fake-arguing.

“This is nice, isn’t it?” Jeremy murmured in my ear. I turned around and straddled his legs.

Screenshot-1897

“It is. I wish everyday was like this.”

“Me too. Y’know, we should invite Dill and Missy over soon. I really wanna meet Sha Sha.” Jeremy suggested. Dill had recently eloped with an older woman, and while we weren’t mad, we were just upset we didn’t get to go to the wedding.

“That’d be nice. Have you talked to Missy lately? What has she been up to?”

“Not sure. I asked if she was lonely now since Dill moved out, but she said she’s doing fine. I think she’s got someone living with her.” He smirked.

“Well hopefully we’ll have an actual wedding to go to soon, I’ve got a dress I’ve been dying to wear.” I ran my finger through his hair and smiled.

Screenshot-1903

“Well first we gotta meet this guy, make sure he’s good enough for our daughter.” He grinned.

“Very true, just don’t hurt anyone. I don’t wanna cover up a murder.” We laughed, and he pulled us back and kissed me.

Screenshot-1904

“Ew guys, get a room.” Poppy groaned.

“Hey, we own this house.” Jeremy warned jokingly. Poppy rolled her eyes and got back to her game, which she was clearly losing.

“Maybe we should take this upstairs.” I whispered seductively against his lips. He smirked, and pulled us both off the floor.

Screenshot-1906

“We’ll be back.” Jeremy chuckled, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the stairs.

“Ew guys I was joking!” Poppy yelled and threw the controller on the coffee table. We laughed and rushed up the stairs.

Screenshot-1910

My life wasn’t perfect by any means. But it was mine, and I wouldn’t change it for the world, because I already had it.

——

And that’s a wrap!

Gen 1 is officially finished. I had so much fun working on this, and this is only the beginning! Thank you so much for reading so far. Don’t worry, this won’t be the last we see of Prim, Jeremy and Hero. They will definitely be making appearances in Gen 2! I’ll have the Gen 2 Prologue up as soon as I can, I am so excited for River’s story, it’s gonna be interesting…

Primrose Fae Chapter 13: Upsets and Downfalls

Screenshot-1753

“River, what’s up?” I asked my teenage son as he nervously sat down next to me on the bed.

“M-mom, I um, discovered something, a few years ago. Dill and I snuck out, and we went to the cemetery.” He started, glancing at me nervously. I shut my laptop and raised an eyebrow at him. “Well, um have you seen those two graves next to Chrissy?”

I nodded. “I’ve seen them a few times, but not up close. Why?”

“Well we got up close, and well, the graves belong to Reed and Flora Fae.” Screenshot-1757

I stared at him for a second, trying to read his expression. Was this some kind of prank? How could he know my parents names? River wasn’t the kind to joke around like this. I rolled over on the bed and faced the wall.

“Mom?”

“River, you’re being completely serious, right?” I asked.

“I am. And I um, talked to Flora.”

“What? She’s been dead longer than you’ve been alive. That’s impossible.” The last part was more to convince myself, I knew River wouldn’t make something like this up, but this sounded ridiculous.

“I know.”

Screenshot-1760

I jumped up off the bed and grabbed my phone. If River wasn’t lying, I knew Basil and I had to go check.

“Mom what’re you doing?”

“Calling your uncle.” The phone rang a few times before he answered with a hushed hello. Basil was an aspiring author, and spent lots of time working in the library. “Basil, I need you to meet me at the cemetery in ten minutes.”

“What? Prim what’s up?”

“I’ll explain when you get there.” I hung up the phone and ran out the bedroom door.

——

Screenshot-1766

“Prim, what’s going on?” Basil said breathlessly as he ran up behind me.

“It’s them.” I choked.

“What?” He looked down at the graves

Screenshot-1764

“Flora Fae? Is that mom?” I nodded and his eyes widened. “Prim, how is this possible?”

“I-I don’t know. River told me he found this a few years ago.”

“Prim, Basil, what are you two doing here?” An eerie voice sounded from behind us.

Screenshot-1768

“What’re you kids doing here?” A red, transparent figure repeated.

“Mom, dad? Is that you?” Basil cocked his head.

“It is. You can see us? Both of you?” We nodded, glancing at each other.

“We don’t have much time kids, we’ve got something we need to tell you.” My dad’s deep booming voice stated.

“Right, right. Okay, so I know you both know about my past, so I’m going to make this brief.” My mom started, but I stopped her.

“Wait, what do you mean we know about your past?”

“Don’t you remember dear, your friend came to you in a dream and told you everything.” I suddenly remember that dream I had the night after Chrissy passed. I had never given it much thought, I always assumed I was just grieving.

“Yea, but wasn’t that just a dream?”

“Just because its a dream doesn’t mean it’s not real.” My mother giggled.

My father stepped away from my mother, to let her explain whatever it was she was about to tell us.

“So you both know, I was next in line for the crown. Since the humans have taken control over you for now, I need one of you to continue the family line. Primrose, I know you already have children, so I want your family to continue our legacy. One day when we gain our control back from the humans, I want our family to take control again. You’ve already done your part, now all you need is to get one of your kids to pass it on.” She was talking so fast it made my brain buzz, but I understood what she was saying. She wasn’t asking a lot from me, but a lot from my son and his kids.

“Do you know how much longer they’re gonna be in power?” Basil inquired.

“No, we don’t. But we probably won’t gain our power back during your lifetime, or your children’s. It’s gonna take a long time, but we need to prepare them.”  She responded, and he nodded. “Do you understand Primrose? This is extremely important.”

“Yea, I do.”

“Good. But if you have any more questions, you can come here at night. Sometimes we’re out but sometimes we’re not. You can always just call our names and we’ll be out as soon as possible.” She smiled and fingered her transparent braid. “We best be going now, Honey.” She turned to my dad and he nodded.

“Wait!” I burst without realizing. The looked at me curiously. “H-how is Chrissy?” I needed to know. A small smile played against my father’s face.

“She’s doing great.” He told me, and then they vanished.

Screenshot-1774

“Did that really just happen?” Basil asked. I didn’t answer him, I knew the question wasn’t directed at me.

“That was a little heavy.” I remarked, he nodded.

“You okay?”

“I don’t know.” I answered honestly.

Screenshot-1777

“I can talk to them if you want.” Basil offered. I nodded, and pulled him toward me.

“I want River to pass it down to his kids, he’s more trustworthy.” I mumbled into his shoulder.

“Good choice.” We giggled, we both knew Poppy was a lot more trouble than her brother. “C’mon, let’s get you home. It’s getting cold.” He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and guided me out of the cemetery.

——

Screenshot-1806

“Ugh, seriously Mom?” Poppy groaned as we approached the store. I felt bad about choosing River over her, so I decided to take her out for some mother-daughter bonding.

“What’s wrong with this place? I get all of my clothes here!”

Screenshot-1808

“Yea, exactly.” She mumbled. I ignored her, and pulled her inside the building. I knew she wasn’t too thrilled to be here, one of her friends was having a pool party today. I would’ve let her go if it wasn’t about to rain.

Screenshot-1811

“Oh Poppy, how do you like this shirt?” I asked, pulling a cute pink top off the rack.

“Gross mom. It’s way too conservative.” She snapped her gum and crossed her arms.

“It’s a t-shirt, Sweetheart.” She rolled her eyes. I knew she didn’t want to do this but her attitude was getting on my nerves. “Fine, I’ll go look in the tank top section.”

Screenshot-1813

“This is so dumb.” She muttered under her breath as I was walking away. She must’ve thought I wouldn’t hear her.

“What was that Poppy?”

“Nothing.”

“No, I could’ve sworn that you said that this was dumb. Sorry I’m actually trying to spend time with you.” She swung around to face me.

Screenshot-1817

“Forcing me to come with you to some shitty old store isn’t my idea of fun, Mom. I’d much rather be with my friends right now, but I have to spend my time with you! It sucks!” She screamed.

“I’m sorry I’m so terrible to be around, Poppy. I never see you anymore, you’re always out with your friends. I love you and I just wanted to spend some time with you.” It hurt, my own daughter not wanting to spend time with me.

“Liar. You don’t love me. If you loved me you would’ve picked me!”

Screenshot-1819

“You can’t just pick my loser brother to do something so important, then expect me to forgive you with a dumb shopping trip? That’s not how it works, you can’t just buy my love!”

“Poppy, is that what you think I’m doing? I thought you liked shopping, I wasn’t trying to buy your love.”

“I do, but not in dumpy places like this. I bet RIVER likes places like this, he’s such a little kiss up. You love him so much more than you love me, you should’ve taken him today instead of me.”

Screenshot-1824

“Is that what you really think? I don’t love him more. I love you both equally. But if it’s really that terrible spending time with me, I guess we can go home.”

“Mom… Don’t try and guilt trip me.” She warned.

“I’m not, I’m just disappointed. I never really got to know my mom, I would’ve loved to do something like this with her.”

Screenshot-1828

“God Mom, you’re making me feel bad.”

“Well you have been pretty rude.”

Screenshot-1831

“I’m sorry” Poppy said as she pulled me into a hug.

“I’m sorry too, why don’t we go find a shop that you like?” I offered.

“I’d like that.”

*River*

Screenshot-1839

“I wish everyday could be like this.” Clover sighed and laid he head on my shoulder. My parents were on a date that night, Poppy was out with some friends, Uncle Basil was at the library, and her dad was at some meeting for work. We had both houses to ourselves.

“Me too.” I kissed her forehead. “But we’ve only got a few years until we can move out together.”

“I know, I just wish it were sooner.”

“These years will fly by, I promise.” I kissed the tip of her nose softly, making her giggle.

Screenshot-1840

“I hope so. It’s killing me, not being able to kiss you whenever I want.”

“You can kiss me now.” I murmured. We made out for a while after, and I couldn’t help but feel kinda weird about it, I was legal and she wasn’t. But no one had to know.

“Hey Babe, its almost ten, my parents are gonna be home soon.” I told her a little while later. She jumped off my lap and headed for the door.

“Oh shit, I’ve got so much homework.”

“Do you need help with it?” I offered.

“No I’m good. Walk me out?” She asked, and I nodded, pulling the door open for her.

Screenshot-1841

She jumped into my arms when we stepped out the door. I almost tumbled backward, but I caught myself before I could.

“Night River.” She purred.

“Night Clo.” I kissed her hard then set her down. “Get home safe.” I joked, and she giggled and ran off.

——

Screenshot-1845

The next morning I went out for coffee with a high school friend. I came home a bit earlier than I anticipated, and discovered something I really didn’t want to see.

Screenshot-1843

My baby sister had her lips all over some punk in the middle of our room.

“Poppy, what the hell is going on in here?” I raged. She was barely fourteen and already had a boy alone in our room.

Screenshot-1848

They jumped away from each other, both of them looking extremely guilty.

“H-hi River. How was c-coffee?” Poppy stammered nervously.

“Don’t change the subject Poppy, what the hell was going on in here?”

Screenshot-1851

“Why do you care? Aloe is my boyfriend, I can kiss him if i want to!” She launched at me, her face scrunched up in fury.

“No you can’t, you’re only fourteen! You shouldn’t be near boys.”

“I don’t care what you say, you’re not my father!”

“Yea? Well I bet he wouldn’t be too happy to hear about this.”Screenshot-1852

“Y-you’re gonna tell Daddy?”

“Of course I am! What else would I do?”

“You could keep it a secret!”

“I can’t keep this a secret, Poppy. This isn’t safe.”

Screenshot-1854

“God River, why do you have to ruin everything for me?” She threw her hands in the air angrily.

“What have I ruined for you? Your chance of getting pregnant at fourteen?”

“Oh my god River, we were just kissing! You’re such a kill joy!”

“I don’t care!” I screamed back. I was glad we were so close with our neighbors, or they’d probably call the cops with all the screaming going on over here.

“You’re ruining my only chance at love!” Screenshot-1855

“You don’t know anything about love, Poppy. You’re way to young to even be thinking about it!”

“Oh yea? And what do you know about love, Mr. ‘I’ve never had a girlfriend'” She mocked. I narrowed my eyes. I wanted to scream that I did have a girlfriend, but I knew I couldn’t give us away like that.

“I know a lot more than you do!”

“I doubt it! Now leave us alone, we were having much more fun without you.”

“No.” I growled.

Screenshot-1861

Suddenly, she swung at me, leaving a stinging feeling across my cheek.

“POPPY FAE, WHAT IS GOING ON IN HERE?” Our mother’s voice yelled from behind me. She must’ve heard us fighting. Hell I bet the entire town heard us fighting.

“I came home from coffee, and I found Poppy kissing this punk.” I gestured to the scared teenage boy hovering behind my sister.

Screenshot-1863

“Poppy, I told you no boys in your room! Do you ever listen to me?” My mom lunged at her.

“That’s a stupid rule.”

“I don’t care if you think it’s stupid. I’m you’re mother and you will obey my rules, you understand me?”

Screenshot-1864

“You can’t always tell me what to do!”

“As long as you’re living under my roof, you will listen to me.”

“Yea, whatever.”

“Also, you can’t be hitting your brother.”

Screenshot-1869

“Aw, does little baby River need his Mommy to stick up for him? How sad.” She mocked. I balled my fists and bit my tongue. She was really pissing me off.

“Poppy, you get this boy out of your room right now.” My mom’s voice growled, she sounded like a demon when she said it.

“Whatever, c’mon Aloe, let’s go to the beach.” She reached out for the boy’s hand but he didn’t grab it back.

Screenshot-1872

“Oh hell no. You’re not going anywhere with him. You’re not going anywhere for a loooong time.”

“Why?”

“Why? Why? Are you serious Poppy? You’re grounded for a long time.” She put her fists on her hips and turned to the teenage boy. “And you, get the hell out of my house.” He nodded and ran out as fast as he could. Little punk.

Screenshot-1877

“Thanks Mom, you just scared off my boyfriend! Now he’ll probably break up with me!” She cried, tears threatening to spill from her makeup rimmed eyes.

“I don’t care.” Mom screamed, and stomped out of the room. I quickly followed behind her, I didn’t want to be stuck in the room alongside the spawn of Satan.

A/N There are only one or two more chapters left of Primrose’s generation, then we can start on River’s. Thanks so much for reading, it means so much to me.

Primrose Fae Chapter 12: Basil

A/N Text written in italics is Basil explaining what happened to him. Screenshot-1600

“Prim, it’s so great to see you again.” He pulled me into a bone-crushing hug. I hugged him back as hard as I could, not really caring that he was soaked from the rain. Jeremy stepped out, he knew I would want to catch up with my brother alone.

“Basil, I thought you were dead.” I started to cry into his shoulder.

“Shh, it’s okay Prim. I’m not dead. I’m here.”

“C’mon, we’ve got to catch up.” I grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the couch.

Screenshot-1601

“I guess I should start from the beginning?” I nodded and he sighed.

Well, as you know, I was only a baby when this all happened. After you left me in the cabin, I stayed there for a day or so. I was confused, I didn’t know where anyone was.

“Wait, Basil how do you remember this? You were only two.”

“I have Hyperthymesia, it means I can remember almost everything that’s ever happened to me.” He explained.

“Oh, carry on then.”

Well, a group of independent scientists searched Moonlight Falls after the human government scientists did. I was apparently the only supernatural left in the town. So they took me with them.

Screenshot-1632

First, they took me to a hospital of sorts. I don’t really know what it was, humans are pretty strange. But anyway, I was extremely confused, they looked so much different from us, I couldn’t hear them and they were getting frustrated.

Screenshot-1637

They put me on a table and examined me. The woman was getting frustrated for some reason, but the men were trying to calm her down. Being a baby, I didn’t really understand or care what was happening then. They were talking amongst themselves and not to me.

They eventually stopped and turned their attention back to me. The woman took me in her arms, and the four of us left.

Screenshot-1639

They took me to a small research center. The kept me in a room with glass walls. They ran a bunch of different tests on me, specifically my wings. It was extremely painful.

Screenshot-1648

They weren’t completely heartless, the did give me a few toys to play with. But still, that didn’t make up for the torture they put my through every single day.

Screenshot-1651

Years passed like this. The man and the woman were there every day. Some days they didn’t do tests, they just used their weird machines and never even looked at me.

Screenshot-1657

When I was a teenager, the woman took me out of my room and tried to do weird scans on me. I wasn’t very cooperative, the machines were huge with flashing lights, and I could feel their vibrations through the floor. I fought against her, I refused to be hooked up to one of her machines.

Screenshot-1661

She attacked me that day. She kicked me, her face was twisted with anger like I’ve never seen. She was probably screaming at me, but I couldn’t hear her.

Screenshot-1663

I was on the floor by the time she was done with me. I was having a hard time breathing and I was sure I was gonna throw up. But it wasn’t over yet. She got a vile from the other room, and poured the contents all over my face. It burned like hell. I tried to wipe it off, to make it stop. But it only made it worse.

Screenshot-1605

I gasped, his story just kept getting worse and worse. “Even I wasn’t treated so horribly. Oh god Basil this is all my fault.”

“No it’s not Prim, it’s the humans fault.” He told me, and continued with his story.

Screenshot-1664

As you can see, my face never fully healed from that. From that point on I never resisted. She did all these weird scans on my head. I never really understood what she was doing, but I obviously couldn’t ask.

Screenshot-1670

One day, she knocked me out. Not with her fists but with actual medication. I’m still not sure how long I was out for, but when I woke up everything was different.

I could hear.

It was extremely strange, being able to hear things after a life of silence. It was a long process, learning to speak and understand their language.

Screenshot-1673

I had been able to hear for a year, I could speak Simlish fluently by this point. Their names were Dr. Marx and Dr. Lee. They were both out that night, like they usually were. But that night was different. I was breaking out.

I had no idea where we even were, but I knew that anywhere was better than here.

Screenshot-1676

The door was made of glass, so it was fairly easy to break out of it. I didn’t own any shoes though, so my feet got cut up pretty bad.

Screenshot-1680

It wasn’t that hard to get out of there. I mean, the front door locked from the inside, and my walls were made of glass. I guess they didn’t think I was smart enough.

Screenshot-1683

I walked for hours. I had no idea where I was going, but I just kept moving. It was around midnight when I was found. But I was found by someone from the human government, and well they cleaned me up, rehabilitated me for a while.

Screenshot-1621

“Then they dropped me off in front of your house, and now we’re here.” He finished with a chuckle. His story was anything but funny though. It hurt so much, to think of my baby brother going through all that torture. I felt so guilty.

“I’m so glad you’re still alive.”

“Me too.” He rubbed his hands together nervously. “So, are those you’re kids?” He motioned to the picture of Dill, Missy and River on the wall.

“Yea, two of them are my step kids but I consider them mine. But I’ve got two of my own.” I smiled. “They’re at school right now, but they’ll be home soon. They’ll be so excited to meet you.”

“I can’t wait to meet them. I’ve always wondered how you’re life turned out.” He smiled sadly.

Screenshot-1613

“Well, at least now we can spend our lives together. We’ve got two empty bedrooms, if you need a place to stay.”

“That’d be nice.” We smiled at each other.

Screenshot-1609

Basil and I just sat and talked for a while. I told him about my life so far. He was really interested in my kids, it was sweet. Speaking of my kids, River should be home soon.

“Oh gosh,” I suddenly remembered my husband was home. “I forgot to introduce you to Jeremy!” I called out for him, and he came rushing in a few seconds later.

“Yea Prim?” He smiled.

“This is Basil, my little brother.”

Screenshot-1702

They introduced themselves, and soon they were talking like they were best friends. I was glad, I knew Jeremy didn’t have many friends besides me, Hero and a few guys from work.

Screenshot-1704

Basil and Jeremy were in a deep discussion about something science related, (I had no idea my husband was so into science, who would’ve guessed?!) when River came home.

“Hey guys, I’m-” He called, but stopped when he noticed we were right there. “Oh, hi.” He glanced at my brother curiously.

Screenshot-1707

“Hi sweetheart.” I hugged him, like I did everyday when he came home from school.

“Hi mom.” He pulled back and gave me a questioning look.

“River, this is your uncle Basil.” I smiled stepping aside to give River a better look.

“I have an uncle?” I nodded, and he smiled. “That’s so cool!”

Screenshot-1709

“I’m River, but I assume my mom has probably told you.” He joked, and Basil let out a snort.

“Yea, she sure can talk.” All four of us laughed, I could talk a lot once I got started.

It was still a huge shock to me that Basil was here. We were having a great time, getting to know each other again. But of course, once something in my life is going good something has to ruin it.

Screenshot-1713

“Mommy, what’s going on?” A small voice snarled from behind me. I didn’t hear the door open through all the chatter.

“Oh, sweet heart, this is your uncle Basil.” I told her cheerily.

“Okay?” She rolled her eyes at me.

“Don’t give me attitude, Poppy. We’ve been through a lot today and I really don’t need your sass.”

Screenshot-1714

“What happened to his face?”

“Poppy!” Both Jeremy and I shouted. Basil touched his scars softly, his expression turning hurt under his fingertips. River put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed reassuringly.

“What?”

“That was extremely rude, you can’t say stuff like that to people.”

“I just did though.” I narrowed my eyes at her but she didn’t flinch.

“Poppy Chrysanthemum Fae, you apologize to your uncle or you won’t be having a birthday party.” I warned.

Screenshot-1712

“Are you serious? First I have to share my room with my disgusting brother, I have to share my house with that, and now I can’t even have my birthday party? This is so unfair!” She screamed, making both Basil and River cringe.

“What’s unfair is how you are treating your family.” I said softly, and Jeremy came up behind me.

“Up stairs, now.” He growled. Poppy’s eyes widened with fear, and she ran up the stairs right away. Jeremy didn’t get mad often, but when he did, it was scary.

Screenshot-1719

“Oh god Basil, I’m so sorry.” I ran over to him and squeezed him as tight as I could.

“It’s fine. I can find another place to stay if you want.”

“Nonsense. Poppy is just being a brat, she’ll get over it. I refuse to let you leave, not after all you’ve been through.” I squeezed him even harder.

“Thanks Prim.” He patted my back. “I can’t breathe.”

“Oops, sorry.” I let go and we both laughed.

Primrose Fae Chapter 11: Family Ties

*River*

Screenshot-1475

For the past month that name has been stuck in my head. I just had to know who it was. So late one night, I snuck out. It was hard to get dressed without waking Poppy, but I managed. I was gonna take one of the cars, but even though it would take less time it would be more obvious.

Screenshot-1477

I took my dad’s bike up to the cemetery. Usually, I’d never sneak out. But there’d been rumors around school. One of the girls who lives right by it has been talking about ghosts. It seemed childish at first, but as people started talking about ghosts with wings, I had to check it out.

Screenshot-1478

Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only person at the cemetery that night. There were people scattered all around the place, and it made it more likely for me to get caught. But it was too late to back out now.

There was something standing by the grave. Or rather, someone. Screenshot-1479

My heart was pounding so loud in my chest I thought it would burst right out. As I got closer, I realized that this figure was a person. She was obviously a fairy, she had dark blue wings sprouting from her back.

Screenshot-1480

“Hello?” I asked, not sure if she could hear me.

“River? You can see me?” the woman asked cautiously. Her voice echoed and sounded far away, like she was standing on the other side of a cave.

“Um, yea? Who are you and how do you know my name?”

“Oh dear, I’m your grandmother.” She sighed. “You shouldn’t be here. Not at night.”

“What’s your name?” My mom never talked about her mother. She never said anything about her life before the experiment. I never really wondered about my grandparents, I just assumed no one knew their grandparents.

“Flora. I noticed you came by a while ago.” She giggled.

Screenshot-1486

“So we are related. Who’s buried next to you?”

“My husband, your grandfather.” She smiled.

“How did you guys get buried here? I thought you died before the experiment.” It might’ve been an insensitive question, but I was dying to know. No pun intended.

“Well, I died first. Your grandfather was knocked out, and they thought he was dead too. They threw us in a trunk, your grandfather never let go of my body when he woke up, bless him. When they found out he was still alive, they killed him too. They did experiments on out bodies, but when it came time to bury us, they had run out of places in their graveyard. They were still developing this place, so they just dumped us here. They were nice enough to give us headstones though.” She laughed, like she had told a joke. She was a little odd.

“How come they didn’t just cremate the bodies?”

“Good question.” She laughed again. “I’ve got to get going, and you should go too. I’d say tell your mom I said hello, but I wouldn’t want to get you in trouble. Or locked up in a loony bin.” She laughed, and disappeared before I could say goodbye.

——

*Primrose*

Screenshot-1535

“Dad, we’ll come and visit.” Missy promised. She and Dill we’re both out of high school now, she was in the military and he got a job at the theater.

“I know, but I’m still gonna miss you guys.” He stuttered.

“Dad, the trucks here.” Missy laughed, still wrapped in her fathers arms. He let go and smiled sheepishly.

Screenshot-1537

“Bye guys, we’ll call you soon!” Dill said as he and Jeremy put the boxes in the truck. We all waved at them as they drove off.

Screenshot-1538

Their house was just down the mountain from us, so I knew we’d be seeing them pretty often. But still, it was gonna be a little strange without two of our babies at home.

Screenshot-1543

“Babe, do you think they’re gonna be okay?” Jeremy asked for the thousandth time that night.

“Yes, I think they’re gonna be fine. They’re adults now.” I picked up his guitar and handed it to him. “You’re stressed.”

“Thanks Prim, you always know what to do to calm me down.” We spent that night jamming random songs, something we used to do when we were younger. It was nice.

——

*Poppy*

Screenshot-1552

“I am so sick of you!” I yelled at my dumb brother.

“What did I do?” He stuttered. I almost laughed, it was funny how nervous I could make him.

Screenshot-1553

“You are so freaking lame! All you ever do is play video games or make dumb things with that table out back!” My brother was such a nerd, it was so embarrassing. I didn’t even want to call him my brother.

“So? Why does that bother you?”

“Ugh! Because, if you’re lame people will think I’m lame.” I rolled my eyes. How are we even related?

“That doesn’t make any sense.”

Screenshot-1556

“You are so stupid. Don’t even talk to me. I’m tired of seeing your face every single freaking day.”

“Poppy, we share a room.” He bit his lip, trying not to laugh.

“I don’t care. I’ll move into Missy’s old room.” I fumed.

“Whatever.” He crossed his arms.

“Oh, and stay away from Clover. Shes MY best friend.”

Screenshot-1557

“What? Clover chooses to hang out with me, it’s not like I force her too.” He muttered.

“I don’t care, she’s my best friend.” I growled.

“You sure she feels the same? Why do you think she always leaves you for me?” He laughed. I restrained myself from slapping him, Mom said if I hit him again I’d be grounded all summer.

“I hate you River.” I stormed into the kitchen away from my dumb brother. He was ruining my life.

——

*River*

Screenshot-1571

“There’s nothing to do, the rain sucks.” Clover complained. It was her birthday, she had been planning a party at the beach but had to cancel due to the rain.

“Sorry, Clo. We could go play video games?’ I suggested. Clover was really my only friend around here since Misty left. Poppy told me to stay away from her, but I’m not gonna let a child tell me who to hang out with. And besides, Clover likes me better.

“We always play video games, it’s getting old.”

“Then what do you suggest we do?” She looked back at me and sighed.

“River, do you like me?”

“Of course I like you, you’re my best friend.”

“No, I mean romantically.” She smiled nervously and pulled her legs up on the bed.

“What?”

“I really like you, River. I know I’m younger than you, but I’m willing to try and make this work.” She was speaking really fast, I knew that was a nervous habit of hers.

“I-I don’t know what to say.” She laid her palm down on my knee and smiled. “I’ve never really thought about you that way.”

“Then think about it, if it repulses you then I’ll back off. But if it doesn’t, would you want to try?” I thought about it for a moment. Clover and I got along really well. We liked a lot of the same things, and we enjoyed spending time together.

“Clover, you don’t repulse me.” She smiled wide and laid across me.

Screenshot-1575

“Do you really mean that, River?”

“Of course. But what about our parents? I mean, I’m older than you. It could be weird for a while.” Her dad was in the military, he kinda scared me sometimes.

“We can keep it a secret until I’m old enough.”

“It’s gonna be hard.”

“I know. But I’m willing to try, are you?” She asked.

“Yea.” I smiled at her.

She swung he leg over me and kissed me hard on the lips. She caught me off guard, I was so shocked I almost bit her tongue. But I didn’t, so I kissed her back. Kissing was something I wasn’t very experienced in and I was pretty self conscious. I didn’t want her to think I was a bad kisser.

“I’m so glad you’re gonna try, River. I’ve been dreaming about this for so long.” She told me when she pulled back for air.

“I had no idea.” She laughed and kissed me again.

For the rest of the evening we alternated between making out and talking. Now, we were cuddling on her bed just talking. We were chatting about school, our friends, and our after school activities.

“River, did you know my mother, before she died?” She asked me suddenly.

“I-I did.” Chrissy wasn’t someone I liked talking about.

“What was she like?”

“I was only four when she died, I don’t remember that much about her. But I do remember that she was really loud, and she laughed a lot.” I answered honestly. “My mom and her were best friends, I bet my mom could tell you all about her.”

“I’ll have to ask her.” She smiled sadly. I couldn’t imagine my life without my mother. She was one of my best friends, no matter how lame that sounds.

“It’s getting late, I should probably head home before my mom suspects something.” We sat up and I shrugged sadly. We climbed off the bed and she walked me to her bedroom door.

“Goodnight River.” She shifted slightly onto her tip-toes and kissed me. I touched her face gently and pulled back.

“Goodnight Clover, sleep well.” I pecked her one last time and left her bedroom. I touched my lips gingerly, they were swollen from all the kissing from the day. Hopefully mom won’t notice. I thought to myself as I headed down her stairs.

Now that all of our kids were out of the house during the day, Jeremy and I had some alone time. We worked nights so we slept in and just hung out around the house. Today started out just like any other. Jeremy and I were on the couch watching a random movie, just enjoying each others company.

Our down time was interrupted when the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it.” I told my husband, pulling myself off the couch. I threw the door open carelessly, expecting the maid. But the person behind the door was definitely not our maid.

I couldn’t breathe. This couldn’t be real. I must have made some kind of noise, because Jeremy jumped up from the couch and was behind me in a few seconds.

I hadn’t seen him in so long. He was obviously much older now, and he looked so different, but I knew it was definitely him.

“H-how,” I started, but then I remembered he couldn’t hear me. I fumbled with my hands, trying to remember the sign language I learned all those years ago.

“Prim, I can hear you just fine.” He said, his voice was deep and scratchy, like it had been strained recently.

“B-but how?”

“It’s a long story, can I come in? It’s raining pretty hard right now.” He asked nervously.

“Oh god, of course, come in.” I ushered him in, getting a closer look.

Despite the huge scar covering his face, I knew without a doubt this was my baby brother.

A/N Sorry this chapter is a little all over the place. But I think Prim is gonna have 3-4 more chapters, and then our next heir will take over. I’ll put the heir vote up soon (probably later today or tomorrow), before Prim’s gen is over so I can have it up while I play/write and so I can focus more on the winner’s story. Thanks so much for reading, it means so much!
