A/N: NSFW images, and I got new eyes defaults towards the end of the chapter so everyone looks a little different. I’m not sure how I feel about them yet, let me know what you think. Enjoy the chapter 🙂
“Are you sure you want to leave so soon? We can buy you a robot if you really want one, we have plenty of money.” Ursa offered me for the millionth time this morning.
“Thank you, but I’d rather use my own money, and besides, I want to see if my girlfriend wants to come. She’d probably like it here.” I thought about Freesia last night, I knew she would love the future and I had to see if she wanted to come.
“Oh, okay. Well, be back as soon as you can, alright?”
“I will, I promise.” I gave them all a quick wave before heading over to the machine.
I clenched my fists as the doors opened. The feeling of time travel was extremely uncomfortable, but it was something that had to be done.
Luckily it only lasted a few minutes. I once again came out of the machine, but this time I was back in my own time. As soon as my feet hit the floor I remembered everything. I remembered that I was supposed to go back in time to save my sister. I remembered that Stone was counting on me. And I remembered I didn’t even try to go to the right time. He was gonna be pissed.
“What happened? Are you okay, you look like you’re gonna be sick.” Stone immediately started questioning me as soon as I noticed he was there.
I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know how to answer him without letting him down. I also didn’t know how to tell him I ended up in the future and only came back to get money to buy a robot.
So I ran.
“Wait, Lake, what happened?” I heard him yell after me. I ignored him and kept running. I didn’t know how to explain myself.
I didn’t stop running until I was in my room. I immediately searched for the box of money I had under my bed. It was just enough to buy the robot, I’d been working with Blackberry for a little while and managed to save up. It was supposed to be for the apartment for Freesia and I, but I knew she’d understand.
After finding the box, I stuffed it with as much of my stash as I could. I had no idea if they even had stuff like this in the future, so I had to take as much as I could get.
As soon as I had everything I needed I started to run again. I had to get to Freesia’s before Stone caught up with me.
“Hey babe, you’re mom let me in, I have the craziest news for you.” I exclaimed loudly as I entered my girlfriend’s bedroom. It was almost five am, but I knew she’d still be awake. She didn’t sleep until morning. I was excited to tell her the news, but that quickly disappeared when I saw what was going on.
Freesia had a guest.
“Oh my god, Lake.” Freesia immediately pushed Blackberry away, but it was too late. The damage was done.
“Wait, Lake, come back!” Freesia yelled after me as I ran out of a room for the third time that day.
A million questions clouded my mind. How long was this going on? Why did she do this? Was I not enough for her? Was she ever gonna tell me? I felt absolutely heartbroken, I loved Freesia and I wanted to marry her one day. It was the second worst pain I’d ever felt in my life.
“Can we talk?” Her voice asked from behind me. I looked up at her, at least she had the courtesy to get dressed and leave Blackberry upstairs.
“Fine.” I sighed.
“I didn’t mean for you to find out like this.” She said quietly. That immediately set me off. I hadn’t even realized how angry I really was.
“No, you didn’t want me to find out at all! How long has this been going on?” I was yelling, there was no doubt her family and Blackberry could hear me.
“Since he joined the band.” She replied quietly.
“This has been going on for a few years? How could you do this to me?”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you, that wasn’t my intention.” She gave me her best ‘sorry’ face, but I knew she didn’t care all that much. I knew her too well. She wanted me out, that was obvious now.
“Save it. I wanna say I can’t believe this, but honestly I can. I never should’ve trusted you, my sister was right about you.”
“Lake, I really am sorry.”
“STOP. I’m done. We’re over and I never wanna see your face again.” I screamed at her as loud as I possibly could.
“Lake, please.” She looked as if she were about to cry, and for a split second I felt bad. I quickly snapped out of it though, she didn’t deserve my pity.
“No, fuck you.” I glared at her before storming out of her house.
I hoped this was the last time I’d ever see Freesia Gill in my whole life.
By the time I got back to the garage I was fuming. I could barely contain my anger, I felt like I could punch an hole through something or someone.
“Lake, what the hell is going on?” Stone asked. He had been sitting on his bed but he jumped up as soon as I came back in.
“None of your damn business.” I snapped.
“I think it is my business, I built this thing and you were supposed to save our sister. Did it even work?” He asked angrily.
“Stop, leave me alone.” I glared at him as I started punching in the date again on the machine.
“Dude, I’m worried about you, what happened?” He asked, genuine concern in his voice.
“Leave me alone, and don’t come looking for me. I never wanna see any of you again. I’m gonna be staying in the future.” I snarled as the doors of the machine started to slide open.
“The future? Lake what the hell are you talking about?” Stone asked, and I realized I had accidentally told him where I was going.
“Nothing, just don’t come for me. I’ll be happier where I’m going.”
“Wait, Lake please don’t go, we need to talk!” I heard Stone yell as the doors closed behind me.
All thoughts of Lake and Freesia were quickly thrust from my mind as soon as I got to the future. I immediately felt twenty times better, it was as if I never even went back home.
“Oh thank god.” I muttered as I happily looked up at the sky. I had been worried about being able to get back here, last time was an accident and I wasn’t sure it would happen again.
“Welcome back, Lake. How was your trip back home? Where is your girlfriend?” Andromeda asked brightly.
“It was terrible actually, but I got my money. She was actually cheating on me, but I don’t really care. I’m okay.” I smiled, it felt like everything that happened had been years ago, and well, technically from where I was now, it had.
“I’m sorry to hear it didn’t go well, but at least you’re okay.” Orion smiled at me.
“Yea, I’m great.” I smiled and dropped my arms to the side, immediately hitting the box in my pocket and reminding myself why I went back in the first place. I smiled slyly to the group and said, “So, who wants to go get a robot?”
